Coast Guard rescues fisherman suffocated by toxic gas in fish hold

On August 18, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command said that the unit had just provided timely support and saved the life of a fisherman who was in a coma and suffocated due to toxic gas while working in a fish hold on a boat.

Officers and staff of ship CSB 2011 (belonging to Squadron 33, Coast Guard Region 3 Command) urgently took the injured fisherman to the emergency room.

Previously, on the evening of August 17, officers and staff of the CSB 2011 ship (belonging to Squadron 33, Command of Coast Guard Region 3) during patrol discovered on a fishing boat with registration number NT91205 docking at Ben Dam port (Con Dao district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) fisherman Nguyen Quang (53 years old, residing in Ninh Thuan ) in a comatose and suffocating state.

Immediately, officers and staff of CSB 2011 quickly provided first aid to the victim and reported to the Commander of Squadron 33. At about 8:00 p.m. the same day, officers and staff of the ship assisted in putting the victim on an ambulance and transferring him to the Con Dao Military Medical Center. About 1 hour later, the victim was out of danger and his health was stable.

Through investigation, the fishing boat numbered NT91205 had 15 fishermen, owned by Mr. Le Say (residing in Ninh Thuan). While selling seafood in Con Dao, fisherman Nguyen Quang climbed down to the fish collection pit and showed signs of suffocation and passed out due to toxic gas.

Due to the high walls of the tunnel, and the fisherman having lost a leg, he could not get out by himself. People standing at the tunnel mouth discovered him and asked for help from officers and staff of CSB 2011, Squadron 33, to get the suffocating crew member out of the tunnel.
