Four-season lemon, a fragrant tree, successfully grown in Phu Yen, the tree is very short and bears a lot of fruit.

Mr. Hue learned about the four-season lemon variety, also known as Chinese cluster lemon or purple flower lemon, through a friend named Huy who lives in the same commune.

And he ordered 270 lemon seedlings at 30,000 VND/tree and started planting lemons in early 2022.

This was his first time learning to grow this lemon variety, so he had no experience, so he planted it at a rather high density: 2.5 meters between trees, 3 meters between rows, with a very fast growth rate, so after less than three years of planting, his lemon garden had closed its canopy.

The total cost of buying lemon seeds was less than 10 million VND. I took advantage of my family's labor to plant and take care of them, so the cost so far is insignificant.

This 2024 Tet lemon harvest from his garden yields about 3.5 tons of fruit from 270 trees, each tree bearing an average of nearly 13 kg of fruit.

Each tree is full of fruit, plump, juicy, the lemon juice has a very pleasant sour and fragrant taste. Traders have come to the garden to set a purchase price of 22,000 VND/kg, his family is sure to have in hand over 70 million VND from selling lemons, after deducting all expenses, Mr. Hue has a net profit of over 50 million VND from 270 four-season lemon trees after 24 months of planting.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hue, a farmer growing four-season lemons (purple-flowered lemons) in Hoa Da village, An My commune, Tuy An district ( Phu Yen province) next to a lemon tree laden with fruit.

Mr. Hue said that lemons grown in Phu Yen region flower and bear fruit throughout the year, creating a year-round income for households. If they know how to apply the method to flower and harvest fruit simultaneously during Tet, the price will be higher.

Seeing the economic potential of growing lemon trees, he continued to expand the area, planting 270 new lemon trees. It has been 10 months now and most of the newly planted trees have also produced fruit.

For the newly added lemon growing area, he has had experience planting at the right density according to scientists' recommendations: 3.5 meters between trees and 4 meters between rows.

He added that the local lemon consumption market is currently very stable, traders come to the garden to buy or he transports to the traditional market in An My commune to sell, he sells all the lemons so consumption is very favorable.
