The government requires all-out efforts to overcome this

Bai Gio Tunnel was built on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line during the French colonial period and is over 100 years old. According to the dispatch, the risk of tunnel landslides was identified, predicted and assessed before 12:45 on April 12.

During the construction of Bai Gio tunnel, a landslide occurred on the top of the tunnel, causing a traffic jam on the railway. Immediately after the incident, the Ministry of Transport directed Project Management Board 85 (investor), construction contractors and Vietnam Railways Corporation to coordinate and mobilize resources to work through the night to fix the problem as soon as possible.

However, due to serious degradation of Bai Gio Tunnel, complex geological conditions, and limited construction space, only the first landslide has been repaired so far, and the second landslide has not been repaired yet.

To ensure safety and smooth operation of the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway route, the Prime Minister requested the Minister of Transport to urgently direct the project investor and its affiliated agencies to mobilize all resources to promptly overcome the landslide incident in Bai Gio tunnel, urgently open the route as soon as possible; ensure absolute safety during construction as well as during the incident handling process.

The Chairmen of the People's Committees of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces coordinate with Vietnam Railways Corporation to ensure safety conditions for vehicles and traffic infrastructure during the transfer of goods through the blocked section due to the landslide incident at Bai Gio tunnel.

Overcoming landslide problem in Bai Gio tunnel

Previously, at around 12:45 on April 12, the ceiling of the Deo Ca railway tunnel suddenly collapsed, covering about 100 ^cubic meters of rock, blocking the tunnel entrance, extending about 5 meters. The landslide in the railway tunnel is located in Dai Lanh commune (Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa). The Deo Ca railway tunnel landslide caused trains from the northern stations going south to have to stop at Tuy Hoa station (Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen) and trains departing from the southern stations going north to have to stop at Gia station (Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa).

The railway industry has mobilized about 200 workers and many vehicles to fix the problem and clear the Deo Ca railway tunnel.

On April 13, thousands of passengers were transported by bus from Tuy Hoa station to Gia station and vice versa after the landslide at Deo Ca railway tunnel (Khanh Hoa).
