According to statistics, on national highways and provincial roads in the eastern part of the province, there are currently nearly 40 potential landslide and flooding points when heavy rains continue. The authorities have urgently deployed preventive measures to ensure traffic safety and promptly handle arising incidents.
At Km97+500 of National Highway 18B (Hai Son Commune), where landslides have occurred many times after heavy rains, it is now under threat due to prolonged rain, which may affect some electric poles on the slope. Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Deputy Director of Construction Joint Stock Company 209, the unit in charge of maintaining National Highway 18B, said: The unit has coordinated with the Hai Son Commune government and the Electricity industry; at the same time, it has arranged machinery, equipment and human resources to be on duty 24/7, ready to handle any incidents to ensure safe and smooth traffic.
The Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police) also directed Road Traffic Police Team No. 3 to maintain 100% of its personnel, increase patrols and controls in the Eastern region to promptly detect, divert traffic, and guard at flooded and landslide areas (if any) and coordinate with relevant units to handle them quickly.
Major Pham Van Dinh, Road Traffic Police Team No. 3 (Provincial Police) said: "The unit maintains a permanent force on the route. If there is a landslide or flood, we will quickly deploy measures to ensure traffic and coordinate to fix the problem...".
It is forecasted that due to the influence of the circulation after storm No. 9, the Eastern region will have heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain in the coming days. Authorities recommend that people strictly follow warning signs and instructions of the authorities when traveling to ensure safety for themselves and their vehicles.
