Promoting the attraction of Korean investors

In recent times, attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) into the province has achieved many positive results, with large-scale projects and modern technology. In particular, Korea is one of the countries with many strategic investors in Quang Ninh, contributing significantly to the economic restructuring, promoting the processing, manufacturing, high-quality service industries and contributing to the growth of the province's GRDP.

Quang Ninh possesses many special advantages to be able to develop multi-industry with advantages in synchronous transport infrastructure system of highways, seaports, international airports, international border gates... This is an ideal condition for Korean enterprises to expand production, export and connect to global supply chains.

At the working session with Quang Ninh province in September 2025, Mr. Ko Tae Yeon, Chairman of the Korean Business Association in Vietnam (Kocham), commented that Quang Ninh has many advantages for development and is suitable for the investment strategies of Korean enterprises. I see that the province always makes efforts to attract Korean investment, clearly demonstrating its determination to improve the investment environment, especially in the fields of processing, manufacturing, services and training. These are very important factors for Korean enterprises to research, learn and decide to invest long-term in the province. In the coming time, Kocham will actively inform member enterprises about the advantages, opportunities and potentials that Quang Ninh has, to promote research and investment promotion in the province.

Along with that, the cooperation in investment promotion between Korea and Quang Ninh province has had important developments. In particular, from 2020 to now, the two sides have had many events and activities of significant significance, such as: Conference on Investment Promotion of Korean Enterprises in Quang Ninh Province and sideline activities (August 2020); delegations of Quang Ninh province attending the Meeting with Korea Conference held annually, rotating in localities across the country, such as: Meeting with Korea Conference 2022 in Thanh Hoa province, Meeting with Korea Conference 2023 in Bac Ninh province, Meeting with Korea Conference 2025 in Hung Yen province.

Through investment promotion activities, regular contact and meeting programs, Quang Ninh province has built good relationships with the Korean Embassy in Vietnam and a number of Korean international organizations, such as: KOTRA, KORCHAM, KCCI... Investment promotion activities have attracted the attention of a number of large Korean corporations, sending delegations to work, survey, and discuss investment opportunities in the province, such as: Samsung Group, LG, Lotte, Hyosung... In the province, there is also the presence of large Korean industrial and commercial enterprises such as: Bumjin Electronics, E1 Corporation, Lotte...

Up to now, in Quang Ninh province, there are 226 valid FDI projects with a total registered investment capital of over 16.87 billion USD. Of which, there are 14 Korean FDI projects with a total registered investment capital of over 308.2 million USD, ranking 10th out of 20 countries and territories investing in the province. Projects implemented by Korean investors are concentrated in developed areas with convenient transportation, with 6 projects implemented in industrial parks and economic zones and 8 projects implemented outside industrial parks and economic zones. Investment sectors and fields include: Processing and manufacturing industry, information and communication; services; real estate business; agriculture, forestry and fisheries... In general, the scale of registered investment capital of Korean projects only accounts for 1.83% of the total registered FDI capital in the province, not commensurate with the potential for cooperation between the two sides and there is still much room to further promote investment capital flows from Korea to Quang Ninh province in key areas.

In the coming time, Quang Ninh province will step up the promotion, advertising and calling for investment from countries and territories in the province in the fields of: Processing, manufacturing; green technology, environmentally friendly; renewable energy; logistics, resort tourism... in which Korea is one of the key markets for cooperation. Along with that, Quang Ninh focuses on completing the infrastructure of industrial parks and economic zones according to international standards, ensuring clean land funds, synchronous technical infrastructure and social infrastructure to serve investors; promoting administrative procedure reform, comprehensive digitalization of the dossier processing process to shorten the time for investment licensing, creating a transparent and open environment. At the same time, paying attention to training high-quality human resources, linked to the recruitment needs of businesses.

With the commitment to "always accompany investors", Quang Ninh hopes to continue to be an attractive destination for Korean corporations and enterprises, contributing to realizing the goal of becoming a modern service - industrial province.
