Series of activities to celebrate 80th National Day in Udon Thani (Thailand)

In the jubilant, excited, confident and proud atmosphere of the whole nation, in a solemn atmosphere filled with the warm friendship between Vietnam and Thailand, on August 28, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, Thailand organized a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2.

The series of activities also spread the meaning of commemorating the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese Diplomatic Service (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025), the 30th anniversary of Vietnam becoming an ASEAN member (August 8, 1995 - August 8, 2025), and at the same time responding to the recently upgraded Vietnam - Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized, “This sacred moment of the nation is also an opportunity for us to affirm our strong aspiration, will and determination to build a strong and prosperous Vietnam, standing shoulder to shoulder with friends from all over the world. In that journey, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Thailand plays a particularly important role.

The historical mark of President Ho Chi Minh nearly 100 years ago and the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in Thailand are important factors that have built a solid foundation for the Vietnam - Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to increasingly deepen, for the practical benefits of the two peoples.

The program was organized elaborately and solemnly on an unprecedented scale in Udon Thani and became a great festival of Vietnam, attended by a large number of overseas Vietnamese, Thai and international friends, together honoring the Fatherland and the 80 years of heroic and glorious history of the Vietnamese people.

The series of events also strongly affirmed the cooperative and friendly relationship between Vietnam and Thailand and the strong affection between the people of the two countries with the active role of a bridge of more than 100,000 overseas Vietnamese in Thailand.

Highlights of the series of events include the Exhibition “Ho Chi Minh – Symbol of the era, bridge of friendship between Vietnam and Thailand” with more than 200 paintings, photos, and historical documents about President Ho Chi Minh, co-organized by the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace, and the painting contest “Overseas Vietnamese children love Uncle Ho” vividly reflecting his noble revolutionary life, commemorating his affection for the community and the special respect for President Ho Chi Minh of overseas Vietnamese.

The exhibition aims to introduce, honor and pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh's great contributions to the country, including building the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Thailand. In particular, for the first time, the exhibition displays images and artifacts about the close relationship between President Ho Chi Minh and the Regent, former Prime Minister of Thailand Pridi Banomyong.

The program "Meeting historical witnesses, collecting artifacts, documents and stories about Uncle Ho" aims to continue to encourage overseas Vietnamese and Thai friends to preserve commemorative stories, memories and artifacts during the 16 months Uncle Ho was in Thailand, from July 1928 to November 1929.

Opening of the Exhibition “Ho Chi Minh – Symbol of the times, bridge of friendship between Vietnam and Thailand”.

This is an important and regular task of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen, Thailand towards cultural diplomacy activities on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Uncle Ho's arrival in Thailand (July 1928 - July 2028).

In parallel with cultural diplomacy activities, the Vietnamese Consulate General in collaboration with the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association and the Thai-Vietnamese Business Association of Thailand organized the Business Forum "Strengthening Vietnam-Thailand Economic Cooperation in the New Era" and the "Go Global Dialogue Session" of the Vietnam Private Economic Forum 2025, attracting nearly 200 businessmen, experts, and representatives of many economic groups of the two countries.

Along with the "Vietnam - Northeast Thailand Goods Fair", these are practical activities contributing to the implementation of Resolution 138/NQ-CP of the Government to implement Resolution 68-NQ/TW of the Politburo on private economic development. At the same time, strongly respond to the Vietnam - Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Go Global Dialogue Session - Vietnam Private Economic Forum was held for the first time in Thailand, demonstrating the companionship of Vietnam's private economy in contributing to strengthening Vietnam - Thailand economic cooperation. Held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Vietnam joining ASEAN, the event strongly affirmed the spirit of strengthening cooperation and regional integration.

Economic Forum “Enhancing Vietnam-Thailand economic cooperation in the new era” and “Go Global thematic dialogue session” Vietnam Private Economic Forum 2025.

In particular, the 80th National Day Celebration in Udon Thani is an unprecedented political and cultural diplomatic event in the region. Attending the Celebration were officials from 20 northeastern provinces of Thailand, departments, branches, and the Friendship Association between the two countries, along with more than 1,000 Thai friends, businessmen from both countries, and overseas Vietnamese, demonstrating the interest and goodwill of cooperation of Thai authorities at all levels towards Vietnam in general, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen, Thailand in particular, and the valuable spirit of solidarity and support from the community.

The series of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day strongly affirms national pride, the spirit of integration, firm belief in the Vietnam-Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and Vietnam's strong aspiration for development in the new era - the era of strong, prosperous, civilized and happy development of the nation.

The exhibition “Ho Chi Minh – Symbol of the era, bridge of friendship between Vietnam and Thailand” will be open continuously for two weeks until September 5, 2025, is a typical cultural event of Vietnam in Thailand, expected to attract more than 26,000 visitors and students, contributing to strengthening the respect for President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader of the Vietnamese people, love for Vietnam and the friendly cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Thailand.
