Transfer of spinal endoscopy technique to doctors in Can Tho city

On November 11, in Can Tho City, the 2nd International Spine Conference was held by the Ho Chi Minh City Spine Association in collaboration with Can Tho Central General Hospital. Many professors and doctors specializing in spine and neurology from home and abroad met and shared advances in modern spine surgery, helping patients recover quickly.

At the conference, leading professors of spine from Japan, Korea, Taiwan... and leading doctors in Vietnam shared experiences and transferred minimally invasive endoscopic spinal surgery techniques, spinal surgery with a navigation system combined with a robotic arm; experience in handling cases of metastatic cancer of the spine; endoscopic interbody fusion of vertebrae - spine...

According to Associate Professor Vo Van Thanh, Honorary President of the Ho Chi Minh City Spine Association, in the previous conference, Japanese professors transferred the technique of "adjusting and fixing the cervical spine with arch screws" and it was performed in Can Tho City.

It is known that Can Tho Trauma - Orthopedic Center has been established for 4 years, and is in great need of developing specialized techniques in spinal surgery as well as other specialties: foot and hand, orthopedic oncology, endoscopy, joint replacement, microsurgery techniques... to serve the care of people in the Mekong Delta.

Doctor Nguyen Minh Vu, Director of Can Tho Central General Hospital, spoke at the conference.

“To keep up with the development trends and needs for examination and treatment of trauma and orthopedics of the people in the Mekong Delta, the hospital's Trauma - Orthopedics Center always updates and develops new techniques. In addition to studying domestically, doctors are also sent to study abroad,” shared Dr. Nguyen Minh Vu, Director of Can Tho Central General Hospital.

Currently, the hospital's Trauma - Orthopedics Center is always overloaded with 150 actual beds, over 7,500 surgeries per year. In particular, the Spine - Trauma Department under the center has also performed major surgeries with difficult techniques such as surgery for unstable fractures of the high cervical spine C1-C2.
