On the evening of October 22, Hanoi Police Club let the visiting team Quy Nhon Binh Dinh hold them to a 1-1 draw at home at Hang Day Stadium in the latest match of round 1 of V-League 2023/24.
Away team Quy Nhon Binh Dinh took a 1-0 lead after a goal from striker Leonardo Melo and had another shot in the net but was denied by VAR.
In the 80th minute, striker Junior headed the ball to equalize 1-1, keeping a point at home for the police team.
This result prevented the reigning V-League champion from taking the lead because in the match at the same time, Ho Chi Minh City Club had a 2-0 victory over Khanh Hoa, thereby temporarily leading the V-League 2023/24 rankings after the opening round.
Right after Ho Chi Minh City Club is Nam Dinh Green Steel, the team that won 2-1 against newcomer Quang Nam.
The decisive goal of the match came from a successful penalty kick by striker Rafaelson, after VAR technology determined that player Nguyen Tang Tien of the visiting team Quang Nam let the ball touch his hand in the 16m50 area.
The remaining matches in round 1 of V-League 2023/24 all ended in a draw: Hai Phong drew 1-1 against Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Dong A Thanh Hoa drew 2-2 against Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Viettel and Song Lam Nghe An shared points with a 1-1 draw.
Hanoi FC must play later due to adjusting the schedule to suit the AFC Champions League, the latest match of round 1 of V-League 2023/24 will take place at 6:00 p.m. on November 24 when runner-up Hanoi FC will visit Becamex Binh Duong - a team that has had a quality transfer period with new players such as center-back Que Ngoc Hai or midfielder Nguyen Hai Huy.
