CMC launches OpenAI company, ready to enter the era of global AI transformation

On August 21, 2025, CMC Technology Group launched CMC OpenAI Company (C-OpenAI), striving to affirm its pioneering role in developing AI technology with Vietnamese identity, contributing to realizing national goals.

After 32 years of operation in the field of information technology, CMC has affirmed its position as one of the leading technology enterprises in Vietnam. Speaking at the event, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized: “There are global applications like ChatGPT but there are also countless national applications. The combination of global and local will help our world develop more sustainably. And this is an opportunity for developing countries like Vietnam. CMC OpenAI is a Vietnamese enterprise with the advantage of Vietnamese data, Vietnamese problems. Its advantage is open source AI and its inherent advantage is Vietnamese people, Vietnamese intelligence. The flexibility and adaptability of Vietnamese culture is the most necessary and important thing in an era where technology is creating rapid and breakthrough changes. CMC's bet on AI is the right strategic decision.”

According to Resolution 57 of the Politburo , by 2030 Vietnam will be among the top 3 countries in ASEAN in AI research and development. In that roadmap, key technology enterprises such as CMC are assigned the responsibility of pioneering the development of core technology, platforms and AI applications.

C-OpenAI: a platform based on 25 cutting-edge core technologies

According to CMC, C-OpenAI has 4 outstanding features, including: 25 self-developed core AI technologies; Operating on CMC Cloud infrastructure and a modern data center system, ensuring Vietnamese data sovereignty; Aiming for application in key areas: National legal virtual assistant, Citizen virtual assistant, Education, Healthcare, Finance - Banking, Production, Public Administration; Aiming to bring Vietnamese AI to serve Vietnamese people, with the highest reliability and data security.

C-OpenAI's technology platform is built on more than 25 core technologies developed by CMC, including Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLM), Speech Processing, and Datalakehouse.

Pioneer in implementing one of the two national tasks and at the same time realizing the goals of Resolution 57, aiming to master strategic technologies, in which artificial intelligence is one of the 11 strategic technologies of the country.

The launch of C-OpenAI is a highlight of CMC's strategic activities in 2025. Previously, in November 2024, CMC announced the AI ​​Transformation (AI-X) initiative in Hanoi and Tokyo, Japan. In January 2025, the Group was assigned two national tasks on CMC Cloud and the C-OpenAI Open Ecosystem, and presented the AI ​​Transformation framework at the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland). In June 2025, CMC started construction of the Innovation Space Complex in Hanoi; in July 2025, it announced the CMC SHTP DC super-scale Data Center project in Ho Chi Minh City with a total capital of 250 million USD.
