After Doan Van Hau missed a penalty, Hanoi Police escaped a somewhat lucky loss and then beat SLNA 2-1 in round 9 of V-League 2023.

Playing at home at Hang Day Stadium and continuing the momentum of the last three consecutive wins, CAHN pushed up their attacking formation right from the start, creating great pressure on SLNA's goal. Van Hau (number 5) watched the ball bounce off the SLNA post after a penalty kick, in the match where CAHN beat SLNA at Hang Day on the evening of May 26.

Seven minutes after Van Hau's missed shot, CAHN unexpectedly conceded a goal. From a move up the right wing, center back Que Ngoc Hai crossed the ball for Nguyen Trong Hoang to head in to open the score.

Before the match, SLNA was underestimated because of a series of draws or losses, and they were near the relegation group. Therefore, their opening goal was like a bucket of cold water poured on CAHN who were full of spirit.

In the remaining minutes of the first half, the home team poured forward to attack. They had a total of 11 shots in the first 45 minutes, almost twice as many as their opponents. However, young goalkeeper Van Viet played excellently, saving SLNA many times.

Just two minutes into the second half, SLNA counterattacked quickly. Xuan Tien passed to Soladio who was running down the right wing, and the shot went past goalkeeper Do Sy Huy. However, the referees did not recognize the goal because they thought the foreign player of the away team was offside.

However, slow-motion replays showed Soladio standing above the last CAHN defender when Xuan Tien passed the ball. If the goal had been allowed, the gap would have been doubled and could have crushed CAHN's fighting spirit.

After escaping the second goal, the home team continued to push forward their attack. In the 54th minute, they found an equalizer thanks to a brilliant moment from Le Van Do. The midfielder, who had just participated in the 32nd SEA Games, quickly volleyed the ball in front of the penalty area, sending it close to the post after a cross from Ho Tan Tai from the right wing. Goalkeeper Van Viet jumped as far as he could but still could not touch the ball to save SLNA.

The game then became a bit of a draw. In the 66th minute, Que Ngoc Hai made a mistake that led to the decisive goal. The SLNA midfielder headed the ball into his own goal to block a cross from the right wing by CAHN. Goalkeeper Van Viet pushed the ball away, saving the captain's own goal. But striker Jhon Clay was there in time to kick the ball into the roof of the net, sealing the score at 2-1 for CAHN.

The victory helped CAHN climb to second place in the table with 18 points, one point behind the leader Thanh Hoa, but also played one more match. In round 10 on May 30, they will host Khanh Hoa .
