One of the two babies born on the street received respiratory support at the hospital (Photo: 115 Emergency Center, Ho Chi Minh City).

The first case occurred on July 23 in Chanh Hung Ward. The 115 Emergency Center coordinator received the incident from the baby’s grandmother, who was too scared to approach her daughter and grandchild who were lying on the upper floor. After being reassured and encouraged, she went to check on her and found her grandchild was purple and had stopped breathing.

Immediately, the coordinator instructed the grandmother to perform first aid and CPR on the child before the emergency team arrived.

At the same time, two teams from the 115 Emergency Center arrived at the scene. Doctors and nurses continued to actively resuscitate, intubate, and administer oxygen, helping the baby regain his color and have a clear pulse.

The newborn was transferred to Children's Hospital 1, and the mother to Tu Du Hospital. Medical history revealed that the mother was pregnant with an umbilical cord wrapped around her neck twice, low amniotic fluid, and expected delivery date July 21. The baby is currently being treated in the hospital's intensive care unit.

The second case took place on the morning of August 9 in Cat Lai ward. The pregnant woman was 31 weeks pregnant and had just received a lung maturation injection. Her water suddenly broke and she gave birth while waiting for the ambulance.

The baby was born cyanotic and had a difficult pulse. The family was immediately instructed by the coordinator of the 115 Emergency Center in Ho Chi Minh City to perform CPR remotely.

Two emergency teams from the Saigon General Hospital Satellite Station and Le Van Thinh Hospital also quickly arrived. The emergency team clamped the umbilical cord, administered IV fluids, and quickly transferred the mother to Le Van Thinh Hospital, and the baby to Children's Hospital 2. The baby currently has a stable pulse, weak breathing, and is receiving oxygen in the neonatal intensive care unit.

The above two cases clearly demonstrate the importance of calling 115 immediately when an emergency occurs. Not only will the medical team be dispatched as quickly as possible, but the operators will also guide people to perform first aid steps promptly. This can determine the patient's survival.
