In addition to the above sentence, former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were also fined 500,000 PKR (more than 43 million VND) each, according to Reuters citing information from ARY News channel.
Ms Bibi was accused of failing to complete the Islamic waiting period after divorcing her first husband before marrying Mr Khan. That rule, which is enshrined in Pakistani law, requires women to wait three months after divorce before remarrying.

Ms Bibi was previously married to Mr Khawar Maneka, who said they divorced in November 2017, less than three months before she married Mr Khan on January 1, 2018. However, Ms Bibi claims she divorced Mr Maneka in August 2017.
Mr Khan was married to Jemima Goldsmith in 1995 and divorced in 2004. He then married Reham Khan in 2014 and divorced a year later.
Both Mr Khan and Ms Bibi deny any wrongdoing. Mr Khan’s lawyer, Intisar Panjutha, said his client denies the charges and said the case is one of several politically motivated cases aimed at ousting him from the general election on 8 February.
A few days ago, Mr. Khan (72 years old), was sentenced to 10 years in prison for leaking state secrets and 14 years in prison with Ms. Bibi for illegally selling state gifts, according to Reuters.
Mr Khan is in prison in the city of Rawalpindi in Punjab province, while Ms Bibi has been allowed to serve her sentence at their hilltop villa in the capital Islamabad.
