Da Nang is determined to build a modern city, rich in identity and humanity.

“Building a modern city with rich identity, humane Da Nang people, and a high quality of life...” is one of the goals emphasized in the political report of the 1st Da Nang City Party Congress, term 2025-2030.

Building a high quality of life

In its development journey, Da Nang is not only mentioned as the economic, social, tourism and service center of the Central region but also as a "livable city". In the 2020-2025 term, the Party Committee of Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province has focused resources on social security policies such as credit support, housing improvement, health insurance, vocational training and job creation.

By the end of 2024, 98% of households in the city will have access to clean water, ensuring daily essential needs. More than 98.5% of people participate in health insurance, among the highest in the country, creating a widespread social safety net. The poverty rate in the old Da Nang has dropped below 1%. After merging with Quang Nam province from July 1, 2025, the total number of poor and near-poor households in multiple dimensions is 28,227, accounting for 6.35%.

Da Nang has completed the goal of eliminating 100% of temporary and dilapidated houses. Specifically, the entire city after the merger has completed the elimination of 12,298 temporary and dilapidated houses, including 7,257 newly built houses and 5,041 repaired houses. Thus, after more than 3 years of implementation, Da Nang city has completed the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses early. This result demonstrates great political determination, with resources of more than 705 billion VND mobilized from the budget and socialization.

The average life expectancy of Da Nang residents is always high compared to the rest of the country. The city aims to raise the average life expectancy from birth to 75.53 years. Regarding education, Da Nang currently has 509 schools meeting national standards, accounting for 41.1%.

In the field of health, Da Nang not only upgrades grassroots health centers but also develops specialized techniques at the city level, contributing to bringing high-quality services closer to the people. Ms. Bui Thi Khiet, 65 years old, residing in Ban Thach ward, Da Nang city, shared that in recent years, the ward has regularly organized free health check-ups. "Thanks to that, the elderly like us have been able to detect latent diseases early. People clearly see the government's concern and feel much more secure about their lives and health," Ms. Khiet said.

Mr. Nguyen Van Long, 70 years old, residing in Quang Phu ward, Da Nang city, shared: “In the past, if we wanted to get quality medical examination, we had to go far to the central hospital, which was both time-consuming and expensive. Now, commune-level medical facilities have been invested in, have good doctors, and modern equipment. Thanks to that, medical examination and treatment are more convenient and faster.”

Building a culture rich in identity

Immediately after implementing the two-level local government model from July 1, the People's Committee of Da Nang city identified the key task, which is to continue implementing the city program "5 no", "3 yes", "4 safe" and the Project "Building a cultural and civilized urban lifestyle". Develop a project to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritage in Da Nang city in the coming period...; ensure cultural development activities, preserve, embellish, promote heritage associated with community livelihoods and sustainable development.

Da Nang City currently has 2 world cultural heritages, 1 world biosphere reserve, 6 special national relics, 84 national relics, more than 450 provincial and city relics. In the coming time, the city will focus on strengthening the preservation and promotion of historical heritage, traditional culture, and folk festivals. By 2030, it is expected that 100% of ranked relics will be restored and embellished; 100% of intangible heritage will be preserved and promoted.

Recently, inspecting the implementation of the planning for preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the special national relic My Son Temple Complex until 2035, with a vision to 2050, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi requested relevant agencies and units to urgently advise the City People's Committee to implement solutions so that the special national relic - World Cultural Heritage My Son Temple Complex continues to be an attractive cultural tourist destination, connecting with historical - cultural relics, scenic spots to form a chain of tourism products...

In the period of 2025-2030, the Da Nang City Party Committee identified "Developing culture and society in a synchronous, closely and harmonious manner, on par with economic development, building a city rich in identity, and improving people's lives" as one of the 7 main tasks stated in the congress documents.

The city concretizes the criteria, standards, and characteristics of Da Nang city and modern socialist people, rich in identity, humane, creative, highly knowledgeable, highly cultured, high-income, high-governance, high-quality of life; determines to develop cultural industries, build Da Nang into a center of culture, art, scientific research, and training of cultural and artistic human resources of the North Central and Central Coast regions.

Along with that, the city will focus on promoting the role of the people, as the center of cultural development, both as creative subjects and as transmitters and beneficiaries of cultural values.
