On the evening of September 14, at the Pullman Hotel, Doha, the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
The ceremony was attended by more than 220 guests, including representatives from many ministries of Qatar such as Minister of Social and Family Development Buthaina Bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Director of Protocol Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim Fakhroo; more than 120 heads of representative agencies and diplomatic officers of various countries, representatives of 15 enterprises, along with dozens of reporters, journalists and a large Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Qatar.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep expressed his honor and joy to welcome distinguished guests to join in the celebration of this special occasion. The Ambassador emphasized that September 2, 1945 was a great historical milestone, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence , giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, opening a new era for the Vietnamese people - an era of independence, freedom and development.
The Ambassador affirmed that over the past 80 years, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam , with a spirit of solidarity, resilience and creativity, the Vietnamese people have overcome many difficulties and challenges, from war, natural disasters to economic crisis, to gradually build a rich and strong country, a stable society and an increasingly enhanced international position.
Vietnam today has become one of the most dynamic economies in the region and a responsible member of the international community, actively participating in efforts to maintain global peace, security and development cooperation.

Ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep emphasized that 2025 has a special significance for Vietnam as it marks many important events: the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country, the 50th anniversary of national reunification, and the 30th anniversary of Vietnam joining ASEAN. In that context, Vietnam continues to implement extensive administrative reforms, improve the effectiveness of national governance, promote digital transformation, develop a green economy, and set a goal of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045.
In his speech, the Ambassador expressed his delight at the great achievements that Qatar has made under the leadership of His Majesty Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, especially in maintaining political and social stability, socio-economic development, and actively contributing to regional and international peace and security.
The Ambassador assessed that the friendly relations between Vietnam and Qatar have developed positively in recent times, especially after the official visit to Qatar by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh (October 2024).
Bilateral trade turnover in 2024 is expected to reach 860 million USD, while delegation exchange activities between ministries, branches and businesses of the two countries are increasingly vibrant.
Cultural exchange and tourism promotion activities are held regularly, contributing to enhancing understanding and connection between the people of the two countries. The Ambassador expressed his belief that in the coming time, the Vietnam-Qatar relationship will continue to develop deeply and extensively, towards a comprehensive, practical and mutually beneficial partnership.

The ceremony took place in a solemn and friendly atmosphere, with an exhibition space introducing unique products and images of the country and people of Vietnam.
Delegates and guests had the opportunity to learn more about the history, culture, development potential as well as outstanding socio-economic achievements of Vietnam.
Many guests expressed deep impressions of Vietnam's remarkable progress in recent times, and highly appreciated the warm feelings and hospitality that the Vietnamese people show to international friends.
The event left a good impression, contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam as a dynamic, friendly country with rich potential for cooperation, while further tightening the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam, Qatar and the international community.
