The Vietnamese team's tactics were effective early on. After many long passes to put pressure on Myanmar's slow and poorly managed defense, coach Mai Duc Chung's players opened the scoring in the 12th minute. After conceding the goal, Myanmar immediately pushed up their attack but could not maintain the pressure. Huynh Nhu and her teammates quickly regained control to dominate the match. The injury of Tran Thi Thuy Nga did not affect the playing style of the Vietnamese team as coach Mai Duc Chung had many good replacement options.

The Vietnamese women's team dashed Myanmar's hopes of turning the game around with a superb goal by Nguyen Thi Thanh Nha. The 2001-born player used her speed to get the ball before her opponent. Thanh Nha confidently chipped the ball over the head of the Myanmar goalkeeper in a surprising move.

Defeating Myanmar with a score of 2-0, the Vietnamese team won the gold medal in women's football at the 32nd SEA Games. In the history of the tournament, no women's football team has ever won the championship 4 times in a row. The Vietnamese team is also the team that has won the most gold medals in women's football at the SEA Games.
