The Vietnamese national team's squad for the FIFA Days in March 2024 includes 33 players, all of whom have worked with coach Troussier at the national team as well as the U23 team.
However, the team still has unfortunate absences due to injuries that have not yet recovered, such as goalkeeper Dang Van Lam (ankle injury), central defender Que Ngoc Hai (groin adductor injury), defender Doan Van Hau (just had surgery on the Achilles' heel point), midfielder Nguyen Tuan Anh (knee ligament injury), or most recently, striker Pham Tuan Hai suffered an ankle injury in the match against Quang Nam Club in round 13 of V-League 2023/2024 on March 8 and had to rest for 1 month.
In the case of Bui Hoang Viet Anh, this defender suffered a torn lip after a collision with an opposing player in the match between CAHN Club and The Cong Viettel on the evening of March 9 and had to receive 24 stitches. Although he is still on the call-up list, this injury will significantly affect Bui Hoang Viet Anh's ability to play, first of all in the first leg in Indonesia on March 21. In addition, midfielder Do Hung Dung, although he has returned to training with Hanoi Club after 20 days of treatment for a foot injury and is still on the call-up list, still needs more time to be in the best condition.
In another development, the team welcomed the return of some notable veterans such as defender Nguyen Thanh Chung, Bui Tien Dung, Nguyen Duc Chien, striker Nguyen Tien Linh, Nguyen Cong Phuong... Besides, the presence of striker Nham Manh Dung after his recent brilliant performance is also expected to create a new breeze in the team's attack.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will begin to gather from March 13. However, due to the schedule of the 1/8 round of the 2023/24 National Cup, the team will have to gather its full strength until March 15. Thus, in reality, coach Philippe Troussier only has 4 days to train in Hanoi before the team moves to Indonesia on the morning of March 19.
