Investing more than 73 billion VND to restore the relic of King Gia Long's mother's shrine

(Fatherland) - The project to restore the Dien Thoai Thanh relic aims to restore and renovate one of the important mausoleums and worship structures in the Hue Monuments Complex.

The Dien Thoai Thanh relic in the Gia Long King Tomb Relic Complex (Huong Tho Commune, Hue City) is the tomb and place of worship of King Gia Long's mother - Queen Hieu Khang Nguyen Thi Hoan (1736-1811). She was the first queen mother of the Nguyen Dynasty.

This relic was built in 1811 and is one of the important worship structures in the Gia Long King Tomb Relic Complex.

After a long period of existence, due to the impact of nature as well as war, this relic is in a state of collapse, almost deserted.

The main hall, where the altar of Queen Hieu Khang Nguyen Thi Hoan was located, has collapsed for many years, leaving only the foundation. Most of the surface of the relic is covered with weeds.

Some remaining architectural structures of the site are hidden in the vegetation.

In order to preserve, restore and promote the value of special national historical and cultural relics and world cultural heritages, recently, the People's Council of Thua Thien Hue province has considered and approved the investment policy for the Project of Restoration and Adaptation of Dien Thoai Thanh with a total cost of more than 73 billion VND.

Accordingly, Dien Thoai Thanh will restore the foundation of the building with bricks, Thanh stone column bases, moisture and termite proofing, install an anti-termite system, restore the glazed Bat Trang tile floor, Thanh stone steps and restore the dragon steps, brick walls plastered with three-component mortar, and traditional color putty.

In addition, the frame structure including the 5-room, 2-wing front hall, the 3-room, 2-wing main hall will be restored, the wooden roof structure system including rafters, purlins, cornices, skirting, paneling, three-way system, wall panels, ceiling beams, floors,... and the wooden doors of group II will be restored. The wooden structures are carved with flowers, painted with preservative paint, anti-termite paint, gilded paint and lacquer. The roof is covered with yellow enameled yin-yang tiles, the eaves will be restored, the gables will be inlaid with porcelain, the ridge and ridge animals will be restored, and the gutters will be made of copper....

The project will also renovate the Right Phoi Dien, the Left Phoi Dien, the three-entrance gate, the inner wall, the screen, install technical infrastructure, restore the interior, and beautify the surrounding landscape and trees.

According to the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, the project to restore Dien Thoai Thanh relic aims to restore and renovate one of the important tomb and worship structures in the Complex of Hue Monuments, contributing to fully restoring the architectural appearance of the complex of King Gia Long's tomb and avoiding the risk of the structure becoming a ruin in the future. This is an extremely necessary task. As expected, the project will be implemented within 4 years.
