On January 11, the Investigation Police Agency of Cao Lanh City ( Dong Thap Province) informed that they are temporarily detaining Nguyen Phuoc Duy (41 years old, residing in My Tan Commune, Cao Lanh City) to investigate the act of "Resisting a person on official duty".

According to initial information, on January 10, Duy went to the Traffic Police Department, Cao Lanh City Police (Dong Thao) to have his violation case resolved. Here, the traffic police officer instructed Duy to write a report on the previous incident.

However, Duy thought it would take time and would require going back and forth many times, so he did not do it and used vulgar language, knocking over a chair in the office. Not stopping there, Duy continued to hit the traffic police officer in the face with his helmet and said, "If I had known, I would have brought a knife with me."

According to the Investigation Police Agency of Cao Lanh City Police, on January 2, Duy was previously fined by the Traffic Police - Order Patrol Team for administrative violations in the field of road traffic, but Duy left without signing the violation record.

Previously, in 2017, Hanoi City Police also detained Nguyen Huu Dat (born 1993, Hanoi) for swinging a golf club at a traffic police officer.

Specifically, on the afternoon of August 4, 2017, Nguyen Huu Dat drove a 4-seat car with license plate 30A-317.70 from Nguyen Chi Thanh Street to De La Thanh Street, a one-way street prohibited for cars. At this time, a soldier from Traffic Police Team No. 2 signaled the car to stop for handling.

However, instead of complying, Dat got out of the car and hit a police officer of Traffic Police Team No. 2 in the face with his head, injuring him. After that, Dat got back in the car and ran away towards Nguyen Chi Thanh Street.

Immediately, Traffic Police Team No. 2 used the walkie-talkie to inform the working group of Traffic Police Team No. 3 to organize the arrest.

When the car driven by Dat reached the intersection of Nguyen Chi Thanh - Huynh Thuc Khang, the traffic police of Traffic Police Team No. 3 signaled the car to stop.

However, as soon as he stopped the car, Dat started insulting and abusing the traffic police officers. Then, Dat took out a golf club that he had hidden in his car and attacked, hitting a traffic police officer across the back.
