In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City will recruit 1,995 specialized students from 6 high schools. Of which, 2 specialized schools are Tran Dai Nghia and Le Hong Phong, 4 high schools recruiting specialized classes are Mac Dinh Chi, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Nguyen Huu Huan and Gia Dinh.

The number of candidates registering for the specialized exam is more than 8,200 students, an increase of 1,532 compared to last year. The number of candidates registering increased, causing the competition ratio to increase by about 0.1 to 0.6 in 4 out of 6 schools. To be admitted to specialized or integrated grade 10, students still have to take three general exams including math, literature, and foreign language.
