Mr. Pham Gia Chi Bao (actor Chi Bao) - director of the Museum of Ceramics during the nation's founding period, recently had a meeting to introduce the museum.

Chi Bao said he has been collecting ceramics for many years and currently owns more than 1,000 ceramic artifacts from many pre-Dong Son cultures such as Phung Nguyen, Dong Dau, Go Mun; contemporary cultures such as Sa Huynh culture, Dong Nai river basin proto-culture...

Among them, he likes Phung Nguyen culture pottery the most because of its aesthetic and uniqueness. Therefore, he dedicated a room to display it.

“I like to collect ceramics because I love their rustic, graceful look. When people know that I collect ceramics, they come to me or recommend special ceramic items. When I bring home a ceramic item, I am most happy because it represents a certain culture.

Through this, I can introduce to young people the cultural history of the nation, those interested in ceramic antiques" - Mr. Chi Bao shared.

The Museum of Ceramics of the National Foundation Period currently displays more than 400 artifacts, including a national treasure Dong Son ceramic pot and unique collections.

Dong Son ceramic steamer was recognized as a national treasure in December 2024. The steamer was made of clay baked at high temperature, about 900°C, and dated back about 2,000 - 2,500 years ago.

The ceramic steamer collected by Mr. Chi Bao is the most intact, largest, and has a balanced, harmonious shape. The ceramic steamer was previously used to cook sticky rice or steam food.

The ceramic pot is currently on display at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History in the special exhibition National Treasures - Heritage masterpieces in Ho Chi Minh City .

The exhibition space in the Museum of Ceramics during the nation's founding period was modeled after many large museums in the world by Mr. Chi Bao, but only partially simulated. Because in many places, the cabinet containing artifacts alone costs hundreds of thousands of USD with an automated mechanism. He said that he will calculate more options for improvement in the future.

The exhibits in the museum provide vivid materials for historical research, archaeology, and education on the value of national heritage.

Mr. Chi Bao informed that in the coming time, the museum will organize experiential programs for students, and coordinate with universities and museums at home and abroad to develop research documents.
