At about 4:30 p.m. on September 3, at Cat Lai ferry terminal (connecting Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai with Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh City), the high traffic volume caused a traffic jam lasting about 2 km on the bank of Nhon Trach district (Dong Nai).

Most of the vehicles waiting to cross the Cat Lai ferry to return to Ho Chi Minh City are families using personal cars to travel to Vung Tau.

Mr. Ha The Nam (living in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City) said that during the holiday, he and his wife and children went to Vung Tau to play. On the way back, because of fear of traffic jams on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh highway, his family chose to travel via Cat Lai ferry. However, on the afternoon of September 3, when they had just reached the wharf more than 2km, a traffic jam occurred. "Our car moved little by little, waiting for more than 30 minutes but still could not get off the ferry" - Mr. Nam shared in frustration.

For many years, Cat Lai ferry (connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Dong Nai) has been overloaded and constantly congested during peak holidays and Tet. Therefore, currently, the two localities of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai are planning to build a bridge to replace Cat Lai ferry.

In addition to the Cat Lai ferry terminal area, according to the reporter's records on the afternoon of September 3, the western gateway area of Ho Chi Minh City was also bustling with people and vehicles.

On National Highway 1, the area from the Binh Thuan intersection overpass to the intersection between National Highway 1 and Nguyen Huu Tri Street and from Binh Dien Bridge to the beginning of An Lac pedestrian bridge No. 2 (Binh Chanh District), sometimes there is local congestion but it does not last long.
