Visitors experience picking melons, carrying melons... at the melon field in Truong Dinh village
According to Thanh Nien newspaper on the afternoon of July 9, many tourists participated in the first Truong Dinh watermelon festival organized by Truong Dinh Ecological Agricultural Tourism Cooperative (HTX) and farmers in the village.
The group of tourists enjoyed "playing the role" of farmers going down to the fields to pick melons by hand.
Children were taken by their parents to the countryside of Hoa Vang to experience being a farmer.
According to Mr. Pham Tan Hung, Chairman of the Cooperative, this is an activity facilitated by the local government to support watermelon farmers in terms of output, contributing to promoting and spreading the Truong Dinh watermelon brand to a wide audience, while at the same time forming an experiential tourism model to attract tourists.
Farmers in Truong Dinh village enthusiastically guide tourists on how to choose melons, pick melons, and carry melons.
For melon growers in Truong Dinh village, when welcoming tourists from many places to experience, the farmers "with muddy hands and feet" practicing to be tour guides make everyone very excited.
The model of experiential tourism in the countryside of Hoa Lien, Hoa Bac, Hoa Ninh communes... is increasingly developing, becoming a destination for tourists on weekends.
Instructing tourists on how to identify and choose watermelons with red flesh, farmer Mai Thi Xi smiled and took photos with tourists just like a professional tour guide.
Mrs. Xi said that if she sold watermelons to traders, they would often be forced to lower the price and sell very slowly. However, at the watermelon festival, her family tried to "do" tourism, and the watermelons sold faster.
Melon farmers combine experiential tourism with growing melons, which has helped them do business much more smoothly.
Recently, after many tourists came to the countryside of Hoa Vang district to experience being a farmer, the old farmers have had many positive changes in communication and behavior.
