(NLDO) - Kim Bong Traditional Craft Village Festival - Hoi An takes place until today (February 9) with many unique and attractive activities.

On the evening of February 8, at Kim Bong Craft Village Center (Cam Kim Commune, Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province), the opening ceremony of Kim Bong Traditional Craft Village Festival 2025 took place.

This is an annual event held every January, with many exciting activities for locals and tourists to experience. On the evening of February 8, hundreds of locals and tourists flocked to Kim Bong carpentry village to participate in the festival.

The opening ceremony included a "wood punishment" ceremony, along with traditional art performances, the folk game of Bài Chòi and the Ceremony to receive the Certificate of Traditional Craft Recognition of Quang Nam Province for the Kim Bong and Cam Kim mat weaving craft.

According to Mr. Huynh Ngoc Hung, Chairman of Cam Kim Commune People's Committee, Kim Bong Traditional Craft Village Festival is not only an opportunity to preserve and promote the traditional values ​​of Kim Bong carpentry village, but the program also helps to awaken the source to gradually build Cam Kim into a rural village, an ecological craft village, attracting tourists to improve the spiritual and material life of the people.

"Today, Cam Kim is honored to receive the certificate recognizing Kim Bong sedge mat making as a local traditional craft. This is also one of the opportunities to develop tourism in the craft village" - Mr. Hung hopes.

People and tourists flock to join the festival

Ms. Minh Hanh, a tourist from Da Nang, said that she was very impressed with the festival for the first time. The traditional activities at the program were imbued with folk colors, and the cuisine was also very rich and diverse.

According to the program, on the morning of February 9, the Kim Bong Ancestor Worship Ceremony will take place - a beautiful traditional cultural feature to show gratitude to the ancestors, those who opened the land and founded the village and pray for a new year of favorable weather, prosperity and good health.

On this occasion, Hoi An city will also organize the first boat race of the year on Thu Bon river, Dong Ha village embankment, Cam Kim commune at 1:00 p.m. on February 9, with the participation of racing teams from communes and wards in the city.

Notably, at this festival, the Kim Bong Countryside Market reenactment activity was introduced to the public for the first time and will be put into operation monthly, promising to bring new tourism products, attract tourists and promote clean Cam Kim agricultural products to the Hoi An market and neighboring areas.

The special thing about Kim Bong Countryside Market is that it only uses environmentally friendly packaging and items, creating an old market space, bringing the experience of visiting and exploring Kim Bong countryside in the direction of green and sustainable development.

In addition, activities are organized throughout such as exhibitions, demonstrations of wood carving, bamboo root carving, boat building, mat making, basket weaving, noodle making, etc.; demonstrations of sharp nets, baskets, traps, nets, fishing nets and swimming experiences; folk games; culinary space of Kim Bong delicacies, etc.

To attract people and tourists to participate in this year's festival, the Organizing Committee has provided free tickets to visit Kim Bong carpentry village and experience boating on the river on February 8 and 9.
