"Flower Flute Festival - Festival of Ethnic Groups" and the spring festival "Opening the Gate of Heaven on Fansipan" officially opened on the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year (February 12) at Sun World Fansipan Legend, Sa Pa, Lao Cai .
Sa Pa is expected to welcome over 100,000 visitors during the Lunar New Year.
The Flower Panpipe Festival offers visitors many new and exciting activities and experiences. In addition to the bustling spring atmosphere imbued with the colors of the Northwest, visitors will enjoy the unique panpipe dance performances of the Mong people, and participate in folk games at Ban May such as: Blindfolded goat catching, blindfolded duck catching, stilts, climbing a greasy pole, etc.
The highlight of this year's Flower Flute Festival is the Ethnic Festival with a series of 5 different unique festivals lasting from February 13 to March 9, representing the Mong, Tay, Red Dao, Xa Pho, and Giay ethnic minorities.
This will be an opportunity for visitors to experience many traditional festivals vividly recreated in Ban May such as: Gau Tao Festival of the Mong ethnic group (from February 13 to 14); Long Tong Festival of the Tay ethnic group (from February 17 to 18); Put Tong Festival of the Red Dao ethnic group (from February 24 to 25); Sweeping Village Festival of the Xa Pho ethnic group (from March 2 to 3); Roong Pooc Festival of the Giay ethnic group (from March 9 to 10).

Also on the 3rd day of Tet, the 2024 Fansipan Heaven Gate Opening Spring Festival will take place with many meaningful activities. Thousands of Buddhists and tourists from all over will gather at the sacred Sun World Fansipan Legend spiritual and cultural complex to participate in the ceremony of opening the Heaven Gate, offering flowers, bathing the Buddha, writing New Year wishes, chanting sutras to pray for national peace and prosperity and many other meaningful programs. In particular, on the evening of the 5th day of Tet, Buddhists and tourists will participate in the sacred lamp offering ceremony at Bao An Thien Tu area - Fansipan cable car station.

It is expected that during Tet, Sa Pa will welcome over 100,000 visitors, an increase of more than 11,000 visitors compared to the same period last year. The peak is on the 3rd and 4th of Tet, when it will welcome about 65,000 visitors.
