Tourists are eager to experience hot air ballooning in Ha Long

On the morning of September 1, the first Hot Air Balloon Festival took place at the 30/10 Square in Hong Hai Ward (Ha Long City, Quang Ninh ) and attracted a large number of locals and tourists to experience.

The hot air balloon festival is held from 7am to 9am and after 4:30pm, on September 1 and 2. This morning, Ha Long City issued more than 100 free tickets for residents and tourists to experience the service and see Ha Long from above.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa (in Ha Long City) shared that this was the first time she experienced sitting in a hot air balloon and seeing the whole view of this heritage city from above.

According to Ms. Thoa, the festival has helped local people and tourists coming to Ha Long during this holiday have the opportunity to learn, experience and know about hot air balloons.

According to Mr. Hoang Ngoc Nam, representative of the unit participating in organizing the Ha Long Hot Air Balloon Festival 2024, hot air balloons and paragliders are both flying devices in the sky, completely dependent on the weather. If the wind is above level 3, the hot air balloon will not be able to fly and will have to be postponed until the wind is calmer.

“To avoid the situation where people with invitations cannot fly, we have asked the Organizing Committee that if there is a weather problem and the flight cannot be taken, we are willing to stay an extra day, that is, September 3, to make up for everyone,” said Mr. Nam.

The hot air balloon festival is held with the theme "Heritage city, brilliant colors" to concretize the project "Ha Long - festival city" will be held annually, to create more attractive space for tourists to come to Ha Long.

This is also an opportunity to promote the image of Ha Long's heritage, culture and people; create attractive tourism products, contributing to Quang Ninh's goal of welcoming 19 million visitors in 2024.

This morning, at October 30 Square, from 7:30 to 9:30, visitors can experience flying a level 7 hot air balloon and visit the hot air balloon on the ground from 7:30 to 10:30.

In the afternoon of the same day, also at the above location, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., visitors are free to visit the ground hot air balloon; from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., visitors can experience flying a level 7 hot air balloon; in the evening from 7:30 p.m., visitors can enjoy art performances, the hot air balloon lantern night, and from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., visitors can experience visiting a level 7 hot air balloon and visiting a ground hot air balloon.

On September 2, from 7am to 5pm at October 30 Square, visitors are free to take photos and visit; the time to experience level 7 hot air balloon is from 7:30am to 9:30am, and from 3:30pm to 5pm.

Also on September 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at Ocean Park beach in Bai Chay ward, Ha Long city, all hot air balloons will be moved here to prepare for the hot air balloon lantern festival.

From 7:15 p.m. on September 2, visitors to the hot air balloon night, "Heritage City - Colors of Ha Long" will have activities such as: hot air balloon fire dragon performance to greet the audience, hot air balloons erected on stage at the same time, creating a special hot air balloon effect.

In addition, according to the People's Committee of Ha Long City, besides hot air balloon activities, there are also paragliding activities.

Ha Long City notes that hot air balloons can only fly with winds of level 3 or lower on the Beaufort scale, no rain, or outside temperatures below 40 degrees Celsius. The organizers will adjust the flight experience time according to weather conditions to ensure safety.

The organizers can accommodate up to 600 people to experience hot air ballooning within 2 days and depending on weather conditions (following the safety instructions of the organizers).

The maximum height when flying a hot air balloon is 50m (from the ground to the bottom of the basket) according to international standards. The hot air balloon is securely tied to a fixed position to ensure maximum safety for the flyer.

People with heart disease, high blood pressure and children under 7 years old should not fly. Smoking and ignition devices are prohibited inside the balloon.
