On December 2, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province issued a decision approving the plan to convert crop structure on rice land in 2025 with a total converted area of ​​187.53 hectares, of which 157.53 hectares will be converted to annual crops; 30 hectares will be converted to rice cultivation combined with aquaculture.

It is expected that by 2025, 187.53 hectares of rice-growing land will be converted to other crops.

The purpose of the plan is to convert the crop structure on rice-growing land to growing annual crops, perennial crops or combining aquaculture to improve land use efficiency and increase income for producing households.

Reorganize agricultural production in some regions and areas to exploit the advantages of land and natural conditions of each locality, creating favorable conditions for sustainable agricultural development; forming specialized production areas with large output, forming highly efficient commodity production areas, serving the restructuring of the agricultural sector. Promote production development, maximize the exploitation of land areas to ensure agricultural growth in 2025.

The conversion of crop structure on rice-growing land must ensure the principles stipulated in Article 6 of Decree No. 112/2024/ND-CP of the Government and be consistent with land use planning and plans; local socio-economic development plans and crop structure conversion plans approved by competent authorities. Ensure effective exploitation of existing infrastructure serving local agricultural production, ensure restoration of the original status to replant rice when necessary.
