Vietnam Railways Corporation said that from October 8, floodwaters on the Thuong River increased rapidly. At Bac Giang Bridge (Km48+738, Hanoi - Dong Dang route), at 5:30 am, the water level was 1m from the bottom of the beam, while in 2024, when the railway was blocked, the water level was only 0.85m from the bottom of the beam. Therefore, the authorities blocked the railway and coordinated with local authorities to ban road vehicles from circulating on both sides of the bridge.
Next, Vietnam Railways Corporation decided to mobilize and organize the pulling of 6 wagons of rock and slag weighing more than 300 tons from other localities to increase the load capacity of Bac Giang bridge, capable of resisting rising water pressure and the risk of sweeping away the bridge, especially when the water has many trees, wood, garbage and water vehicles floating... leading to collisions, increasing pressure on the bridge.

By the afternoon of October 10, the floodwaters on the Thuong River were still rising rapidly, with the water level only 0.65m below the bottom of the beam. The train was still continuing to keep the Bac Giang Bridge safe. It was expected that when the water receded, the train would transport rocks to reinforce the Thai Nguyen route.
