At 2:00 p.m. on September 2, the beautiful sounds of the National Concert "What Will Last Forever" resounded in the auditorium of the Hoan Kiem Theater and millions of viewers watched live on VTV1. The program's mark was deeply imprinted, leaving many emotions for experts and music critics.
Music critic and theorist Tran Le Chien: "What remains forever" still retains its identity
Ho Guom Theater was chosen as the venue for the National Concert Dieu Con Mai, which brought honor and pride to the staff, artists and workers of the Theater. For music lovers, over the past 15 years, Dieu Con Mai has become an event that is awaited every National Day, September 2, an art party that is both familiar and new.

What makes Dieu Con Mai live is the prestige and responsibility of the artists and the organizing committee, always putting artistic values and musical aesthetics first. In countless concerts celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country, Dieu Con Mai still affirms its brand and prestige with sophistication, creativity and class.
One of the highlights of this year is the talent of musician Tran Manh Hung in arranging. Although he is a man of few words in real life, in his music he shows diversity and depth, with a solid cultural and academic foundation, along with carefulness and meticulousness. It is this fastidiousness and perfectionism that has created works of lasting value.
The opening piece Que Me written for the monochord and Symphony Orchestra is a testament to this. The folk sounds of the three regions of the North, Central and South were skillfully exploited, the melody was both passionate, wistful and resilient, expressing the desire for a peaceful and youthful country. The monochord sound of Meritorious Artist Le Giang, sometimes soft, sometimes melodious, combined with the difficult technique that the musician conveyed, truly moved the audience.
Another highlight is Song Lo - a familiar piece, but under the hands of musician Tran Manh Hung, the arrangement for piano and symphony orchestra has brought a new look. The arrangement both retains the soul of the original work and creates space for the pianist to show off his skillful technique and the subtlety of each beat.
Regarding performance, singer Tung Duong brought two impressive performances , Dak Krong River in Spring and A Round of Vietnam . Although he is naturally energetic, in the solemn space of Ho Guom Theater, he was able to balance his technique, emotion and stage presence well, so that his performance became the center of attention, receiving a long round of applause. A Round of Vietnam also made many older audiences sing along.
Meritorious Artist Lan Anh continues to affirm her form with a unique, sophisticated and elegant performing style. Her voice skillfully blends Western classical vocal techniques with Vietnamese folk melodies, both academic and approachable.
However, from a critical perspective, the ending should be handled concisely, compressing the climax, for example, after One Round of Vietnam , the choir could sing the phrase Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh acapella to close more impressively instead of prolonging the introduction.
Master of Cultural Management Nguyen Dinh Thanh: A classy program!
The program has succeeded in bringing a new perspective and expression to a familiar topic. The creative combination of high-class instrumental and vocal music has created a unique and convincing artistic space.
What impressed the audience was the image of a new Vietnam being introduced to friends around the world. If we have long been familiar with the symbols of the ao dai and conical hat, in this program, the instrumental and vocal works, when arranged, renewed and upgraded, have proven that they can completely become a common language to introduce Vietnamese culture to the world - because music does not need translation.

In terms of quality, the program fully met the standards of a professional concert. The singers and musicians performed with humility and dedication for the audience. In particular, the organizers showed openness in choosing songs by musicians from all three regions, including famous works in the South before 1975 and re-creating them in a different way.
Many performances left a strong impression. Pianist Luong Khanh Nhi with the Song Lo epic and cellist Phan Phuc's performance of Towards Hanoi brought a new and excellent feeling. Singer Tung Duong continued to burn the stage with his powerful and emotional voice. Notably, the artists in the program all maintained their modesty, not showing off, not taking over the stage but standing on stage for the audience.
One of the highlights was the performance of the Sun Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Olivier Ochanine. He elevated familiar Vietnamese works to a new level. Music director Tran Manh Hung also left a strong impression with modern and sophisticated arrangements.
The audience was especially moved by the performance of traditional Vietnamese music combined with Western instruments. The opening performance of the monochord left a strong impression, becoming a typical image to introduce contemporary Vietnamese culture to the world.
The four values that remained after the program can be summarized in four words: excellence, innovation, openness and humility.
Dr. MC Kim Nguyen Bao: The beauty lies in the new mixes!
What remains 2025 deserves to be a National Concert taking place on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day. The national character of the program is not only reflected in its scale and stature but also in the chosen theme and artistic materials.
The program has created a perfect combination of world classical music with traditional Vietnamese colors. From the Hue royal court music, Cham sounds to the exciting rhythms of the South... all revolve around the theme of patriotism in a natural, simple, romantic but still full of inspiration. This harmony not only maintains the style and reputation of Dieu Con Mai but also brings the program to the height of artistic value.
What remains is not only the value of timeless works but also the reflection of the great and simple things in daily life: from the image of parades on the streets on major holidays, to the noble gestures of Vietnamese people for each other. Music, by summarizing and filtering, has told those things in a convincing way.
With the appearance of new faces such as Ha An Huy, Luong Khanh Nhi, Bach Tra... has breathed new life into Dieu con mai. The beauty lies in the new arrangements and performances by the young generation of artists, making every masterpiece truly "Dieu con mai".
