Introducing Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen to be elected to the position of Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of October 2, the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee held a meeting of the City Party Executive Committee to decide on a number of tasks and duties under its authority. Among them, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, was introduced to the People's Council to hold the position of Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee.

The conference was chaired by Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Le Quang Tung; Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Council Dong Van Thanh; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City Nguyen Tuan Anh; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City Ho Thi Cam Dao; Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Truong Canh Tuyen.

At the conference, the Executive Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee deployed the document of the Secretariat on personnel work and unanimously introduced Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, to the City People's Council to elect as Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term, replacing Mr. Tran Van Lau, who was assigned by the Politburo to take on another task.

The City Party Executive Committee voted with 100% of its members agreeing with the reports submitted by the City Party Standing Committee and 100% of its members unanimously recommending Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, to be elected by the City People's Council to hold the position of Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Le Quang Tung requested the City People's Council Party Committee to lead and direct the Standing Committee of the City People's Council to carefully, thoroughly and fully prepare the content and organize the People's Council meeting on October 3, 2025 to carry out the procedures for dismissing Mr. Tran Van Lau from the position of Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee and electing Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen as Chairman of the City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term in accordance with the process and regulations.

As planned, tomorrow (October 3), Can Tho City People's Council will meet to elect the Chairman of the City People's Committee.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen was born in 1969, his hometown is Yen Phuong commune, Yen Dinh district (old), Thanh Hoa province. He is a cadre who grew up from the grassroots, received formal training, and has a master's degree in economics and advanced political theory.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen has held many different positions in Can Tho province (before 2004) and Hau Giang province (before the merger) such as: Deputy Director of the Department of Finance of Hau Giang province; Chief of Office of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee; Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of Chau Thanh District People's Committee (Hau Giang province); Permanent Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee.

On February 10, 2025, the Secretariat decided to transfer and appoint Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2020-2025.

On February 20, 2025, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen was elected by the People's Council of Can Tho City, term X, 2021-2026, to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City.

By July 2025, after merging 3 localities (Can Tho, Hau Giang and old Soc Trang) into the new Can Tho City, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee.
