Experts have discovered three malicious applications containing Medusa banking malware: Inat TV, 4K Sports and an application impersonating the Chrome browser. Notably, all three were widely released on third-party app stores.
These malicious apps can steal money from bank accounts without users knowing. |
Medusa is cleverly disguised as a malicious application, it has the ability to monitor what the user types on the phone keyboard, control the screen as well as manipulate text messages. Not stopping there, this banking malware can also take screenshots and set up an overlay on the entire screen to fool the victim.
With the above capabilities, Medusa malware can silently steal all user information, including bank accounts and passwords. From there, users can have all assets in their bank accounts stolen without knowing.
Bleeping Computer said: "The capabilities of Medusa banking malware are becoming more and more sophisticated. This could create the risk of a large-scale attack."
If you have installed the above malicious applications, users need to quickly remove them from the device. In addition, users need to be extremely vigilant whenever they want to install software from outside the CH Play application store.
