Dutch businesses, with technology and experience in exploiting and processing sea sand into construction materials, can participate in determining the cost and capacity of sustainable exploitation of sea sand mines in Vietnam, providing sustainable construction materials.

The Deputy Prime Minister hopes that the Netherlands will share the “Sand Motor” model that helps assess the impact of waves, tides and currents on the movement and shape of sand waves in coastal areas so that Vietnam can apply it directly, both ensuring environmental sustainability and meeting economic development needs.

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation in managing and planning water resources such as irrigation works in the Red River basin, to retain water in the dry season, prevent saltwater intrusion and ensure fresh water sources for major cities in Vietnam.

Ambassador Kees van Baar expressed his delight at the Deputy Prime Minister's proposals as well as the plan to celebrate 15 years of strategic cooperation between Vietnam and the Netherlands in the fields of climate change and water governance.

Mr. Kees van Baar affirmed that the Netherlands will coordinate with a number of international organizations to support Vietnam in sustainable water resource management, environmental impact assessment, knowledge and experience sharing, and providing non-refundable aid and loans; and committed to promoting the application of Sand Motor technology and advanced Dutch initiatives in Vietnam to both meet the needs of economic development and protect natural resources, ensuring sustainable and favorable development.
