On July 5, according to information from the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC), from June 27 to July 4, the entire city of Hanoi recorded 21 cases of dengue fever in 17 communes and wards, an increase of 8 cases compared to last week.
Since the beginning of the year, the city has recorded 331 cases of dengue fever. Patients were recorded in 90 out of 126 communes and wards.
Hanoi CDC said that the number of dengue fever cases this week tends to increase. Through synthesizing reports, a number of outbreaks have been recorded, and the results of monitoring outbreaks have insect indexes at high risk levels. It is predicted that the number of cases may increase due to the beginning of the months when the disease increases every year.
Regarding other diseases, during the week Hanoi recorded 59 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease in 42 communes and wards, a decrease of 18 cases compared to last week.
Regarding measles, there were 40 cases of measles this week, a sharp decrease compared to the previous week (there were 88 cases last week). Accumulated over 6 months, 4,225 cases were recorded in 125/126 communes and wards.
Notably, during the week, Hanoi recorded 1 case of Streptococcus suis, a 72-year-old female patient, residing in Hat Mon. The patient started her illness on June 24 with symptoms of fever, headache, nausea, stiff neck, and was admitted to Bach Mai Hospital for cerebrospinal fluid puncture and culture, which tested positive for Streptococcus suis. Since the beginning of the year, Hanoi CDC has recorded 5 cases of Streptococcus suis.
The number of COVID-19 cases has dropped sharply in the past week. Specifically, last week there were 135 cases of COVID-19, but this week only 65 cases were recorded. In addition, other diseases such as meningococcal meningitis, Japanese encephalitis, and whooping cough were not recorded this week.
In the coming time, Hanoi CDC will continue to coordinate with units to monitor and detect patients at decentralized medical facilities on the software system and in the community, to promptly investigate and handle cases and outbreaks, preventing the disease from spreading. Along with that, Hanoi CDC will strengthen medical quarantine work at Noi Bai International Airport, in order to promptly detect suspected cases and cases of epidemics, and apply appropriate and timely epidemic prevention and control measures.../.
