Hanoi strengthens environmental sanitation to serve A80 event

The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued an official dispatch requesting to strengthen environmental sanitation and improve the quality of community services in areas where the program of training and marching forces to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (event A80) takes place.

According to the City People’s Committee, in recent times, in some locations, there has been a situation of garbage being dumped on the streets and sidewalks; there is a lack of public toilets and free drinking water points. These limitations have affected the experience of residents and tourists when participating in crowded activities.

To overcome this, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of key wards such as Hoan Kiem, Cua Nam, Ba Dinh, Ngoc Ha, Giang Vo, Dong Da, O Cho Dua, Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, Hai Ba Trung and related departments and branches to urgently review the field, draw experience and complete the organization plan.

In particular, the arrangement of trash bins and installation of public toilets in appropriate locations, ensuring that people can use them for free are emphasized requirements. Localities must proactively handle issues arising within their authority, and promptly report to the City People's Committee on issues beyond their authority.

The leaders of the wards in the central area are assigned to strengthen inspection and coordinate with the functional forces to adjust and supplement the service plan. The work of updating information on the field needs to be carried out regularly to ensure timely and effective direction until the end of the entire A80 event.

Previously, at the launching ceremony of the general environmental sanitation campaign in the communes and wards, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh called on cadres, party members and people of the capital to take practical actions: throw garbage in the right place, on time, keep the living and working places clean and actively participate in community activities. He emphasized that environmental protection should become a cultural feature and daily habit of Hanoi people.
