Hanoi holds contest to select city's excellent students in 12th grade cultural subjects

This year’s exam in Hanoi attracted 4,909 candidates, an increase of more than 500 students compared to last year. These are excellent students, selected from tens of thousands of 12th graders from more than 200 high schools and general schools of many levels in the city.

The exam was organized in two groups. Group A included 3,331 candidates taking the exam to select excellent students of the city, with the following subjects: Literature, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Information Technology, English, French, German, and Japanese. Candidates took the exam according to the non-specialized program.

Group B includes 1,578 candidates taking part in the exam to select excellent students of the city and to select the national team, with the following subjects: Literature, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, Information Technology, English, French, Japanese, Chinese, Russian. Candidates take the exam according to the specialized program.

Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong encouraged candidates before the exam.

The arrangement of two exam boards aims to encourage and motivate the participation of students from non-specialized public high schools; ensure more fairness in testing and evaluation, and contribute to creating a competitive atmosphere for studying and training well in high schools in the city.

To organize the exam, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has arranged 245 official exam rooms and 9 backup exam rooms at 9 exam locations. The Department has also mobilized nearly 900 officers, teachers and employees to participate in exam supervision and monitoring.

To ensure fairness and seriousness, the mobilization is carried out according to the following principles: The heads of examination sites and deputy heads of examination sites are leaders of high schools not in the same unit, each examination room has 2 invigilators from two different high schools.

Before the exam, at the exam site of Tran Phu High School - Hoan Kiem, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong encouraged candidates, staff and teachers to participate in the task.

Affirming the city and the education sector's attention to teaching and learning in general and nurturing excellent students in particular through many specific policies, including the resolution on rewarding students who won prizes at domestic and international competitions, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong hopes that students in the capital will have more motivation and confidence, be serious and have the highest determination to achieve good results.
