Hanoi improves the qualifications of teachers teaching in English

GD&TĐ - 100 teachers from secondary and high schools in Hanoi participated in a course to improve their English proficiency and teaching methods according to Cambridge standards.

On September 9, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held the opening ceremony of an English training course and teaching methods for teachers of Math, Science , Physics, Chemistry, and Information Technology under the Cambridge dual degree program with the participation of 100 excellent teachers.

This is a strategic activity in implementing the National Foreign Language Project; concretizing the plan of the Hanoi People's Committee on teaching and learning foreign languages ​​in general schools until 2025; demonstrating the determination of the Capital's Education sector in improving the quality of teachers, ready to integrate and approach international standards.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said: Over the past 4 years, hundreds of teachers have been trained in foreign language skills and advanced pedagogical methods, capable of teaching subjects in English according to Cambridge dual diploma standards - a model that is being effectively implemented in many high schools in the city.

This year's course is the fifth consecutive year of being organized and is also the last year in the training roadmap approved by the Hanoi People's Committee. This course is also completely consistent with the spirit of two important legal documents recently issued by the Government: Decree No. 202 stipulating the conditions, order and procedures for implementing educational linkages; Decree No. 222 on teaching and learning in foreign languages ​​in educational institutions.

Reiterating the Education sector's policy in training a generation of global citizens, Mr. Tran The Cuong informed: In previous years, the average English score of students in schools in remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas was only 2-3 points, but now it has reached over 5 points. This is the motivation for the entire sector to work together to fulfill the mission and goal of training global citizens.

“The organizers hope that each teacher will participate in the course with a spirit of learning, seriousness, creativity and discipline, promoting maximum responsibility and proactive training. The success of the course is not only measured by the number of study hours or certificates achieved, but more importantly, the change in thinking, teaching methods, language ability and confidence of each teacher after completing the program,” said Mr. Tran The Cuong.

At the opening ceremony, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training assigned tasks to relevant units, including managing, monitoring, and supporting the course; proposing a roadmap for replicating the model, preparing resources for the next training courses; advising on the mechanism for using, arranging, evaluating, and recording teachers' learning outcomes after completing the course...

Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha, teacher at Trung Vuong Secondary School (Cua Nam Ward) shared her feelings at the opening ceremony.

Representing 100 students, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha, teacher of Trung Vuong Secondary School (Cua Nam Ward) expressed her pride in contributing a small but meaningful part to the innovation journey of the Capital's education; at the same time, she was also clearly aware of her own responsibilities and those of the teachers participating in the course.

“We promise to study seriously and receptively to not only receive certificates but also improve our own capacity, innovate ourselves, spread to colleagues, lead and awaken the unlimited potential of the capital's students,” Ms. Ha expressed.

Sharing about the content that students will learn, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan - Director of the Institute for Training and Economic Development (ITED) - said that, in addition to updating knowledge and teaching skills according to new orientations, students also have the opportunity to connect and exchange with colleagues - pioneers in this field.

At the end of the course, students will take the exam and receive the Cambridge University International Integrated Teaching Methodology certificate - one of the most prestigious certificates, recognized in more than 200 countries.
