Hanoi prioritizes land fund to build more public kindergartens

Specifically, the Departments of Education and Training need to step up advising the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to continue reviewing, arranging and supplementing the planning of school and classroom networks; prioritizing land allocation in new urban areas, densely populated areas, and industrial zones to build public kindergartens. At the same time, units need to pay attention to reviewing and researching to merge or separate kindergartens, or gather separate schools to suit actual conditions to improve the conditions for caring for, nurturing and educating children. Schools with limited area need to base on regulations to advise local authorities and functional agencies on design plans to ensure maximum functionality.

Currently, the scale of preschool education in Hanoi city has 1,149 preschools, more than 2,500 private independent preschools with a total of more than 513,000 children. Of which, the rate of nursery children attending class reached 56.4% (an increase of nearly 10% compared to the previous year); the rate of preschool children attending class reached 98.5%, of which 5-year-old preschool children attending class reached 100% - maintaining the universalization of preschool education for 5-year-old children. Districts, towns and cities have stepped up the review and supplementation of planning, prioritizing land funds for the construction of preschool schools and classes. In the 2023-2024 school year, districts and towns have gathered 77 separate schools, merged 4 preschools, and increased investment in purchasing equipment, toys and utensils, ensuring good conditions for child care, nurturing and education. Districts such as Phu Xuyen, Thuong Tin, Quoc Oai, Ba Vi, and Phuc Tho have actively advised on merging small schools and planning many kindergartens with areas from 8,000m2 to 12,000m2/school.
