Ha Tinh sets up a team to inspect the repair of damage on National Highway 1.

The Ha Tinh province working group will inspect traffic safety and fix and repair damaged areas on National Highway 1, from the South of Ben Thuy Bridge to the North of Ha Tinh City bypass.

According to the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, in order to ensure order and traffic safety, and serve people to travel safely and conveniently during the Lunar New Year, the 2024 Spring Festival and in the coming time, the provincial unit will organize an interdisciplinary team to work and inspect the repair of damaged areas on National Highway 1, from the South of Ben Thuy Bridge to the North of Ha Tinh City bypass.

The inspection team is expected to have the participation of provincial leaders, sectors: police, transport, Road Management Area II, related districts and towns...

According to the leader of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, the working group will request Cienco4 Group Joint Stock Company, Vinh City BOT Branch to report on the implementation results according to the commitment in the "Minutes of field inspection dated July 27, 2023 on management, maintenance and traffic safety assurance of National Highway 1 project, section South of Ben Thuy Bridge - North of Ha Tinh City bypass"; assess the existing problems, limitations, difficulties, obstacles and solutions in the coming time.

At the same time, request Road Management Area II to report the results of inspection and supervision of remedial work and shortcomings that investors and project enterprises have not yet implemented by December 31, 2023.

As reported by Ha Tinh Newspaper, from 0:00 on December 29, 2023, the ticket price for vehicles traveling through Ben Thuy and Ben Thuy 2 toll stations has been adjusted to increase. Depending on the type of vehicle, the ticket price increases differently, however, the ticket price per trip increases from 8,000 - 23,000 VND/vehicle. Along with the single ticket, the monthly ticket and quarterly ticket also have an increase compared to the old price.

The adjustment of ticket prices at BOT toll stations is a normal move , because according to the regulations of the BOT project contract, a ticket price adjustment cycle is 3 years/time with an increase of 6%/year. The ticket price adjustment has also been approved by the Vietnam Road Administration and the Ministry of Transport. However, the increase in ticket prices at the two toll stations Ben Thuy 1 and Ben Thuy 2 has caused many concerns for people and drivers, because the current state of National Highway 1, from the South of Ben Thuy Bridge to the North of Ha Tinh City bypass, has been degraded in recent years, but the repair work has been implemented untimely and fragmentedly.

Traffic participants believe that paying tolls when using the route is completely normal. However, paying tolls must also be done on a route that ensures traffic safety, not one that is damaged, degraded and slow to be repaired like National Highway 1 from the South of Ben Thuy Bridge to the North of Ha Tinh City bypass.
