Ha Tinh is ready for the 2025 Asian Pencak Silat Championship

On the morning of July 22, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Tinh coordinated with provincial departments and branches to hold a press conference related to two major local projects and the 2025 Asian Pencak Silat Championship, held for the first time in this province.

Accordingly, the Asian Pencak Silat Championship will officially take place in Ha Tinh from July 24 to 31, 2025. This is the first time a North Central province of Vietnam has hosted this continental martial arts event.

The tournament is of continental scale, organized by the World Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT) in coordination with the Vietnam Sports Department, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province and related units. This is one of the key sporting events in the region in 2025, promising to bring top-notch competitions, imbued with traditional Southeast Asian martial arts.

The matches will officially kick off from July 25 to 30 at the Ha Tinh Provincial Sports Stadium (lane 05, Nguyen Bieu Street, Thanh Sen Ward). The grand opening ceremony will be held at 8:10 p.m. on July 25; the closing ceremony is scheduled to take place at 6:00 p.m. on July 30, 2025.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's tournament has the participation of hundreds of athletes from 11 Asian countries, with a total of 32 competition events (32 sets of medals), divided into two main groups: Senior Tanding Events: 24 events, including 13 men's weight categories (from under 45kg to over 110kg) and 11 women's weight categories (from under 45kg to over 100kg); Senior Artistic Events: 8 events, including singles, pairs, team and creative for both men and women.

All competitions will be held in accordance with the International Pencak Silat Federation's Competition Rules 7, effective from 9 October 2023. Competitors must be between the ages of 17 and 45 (born between 1980 and 2008).

At the press conference, Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Tinh said that Ha Tinh was chosen as the venue for the 2025 Asian Pencak Silat Championship, which is a clear demonstration of the locality's potential and efforts in developing the sports movement and international integration. The province has carefully prepared facilities, human resources, security, health care and communications to bring a successful, safe and professional tournament, leaving an impression on international friends.
