Prioritize resources
Around 2010, when Hai Duong Electricity One Member Co., Ltd. (Hai Duong Electricity) took over the management of the rural power grid system from local electricity cooperatives, the rural power grid system, especially in remote communes of the province, had degraded. The power lines were affected by time, many bare wires, and the meter boxes were old and dilapidated. Many small capacity transformer stations were often fully loaded, and the power supply radius was far, causing the power quality in remote communes to be very poor, with large power losses, affecting the quality of electricity serving production and people's daily life.
Over the past years, Hai Duong Electricity has paid attention to gradually overcoming difficulties in terms of extensive terrain, sparse population density... building more transformer stations and new power lines to improve the quality of electricity for remote communes of the province.
Every year, Chi Linh Electricity calculates and prioritizes investment in building a power grid system for remote and mountainous communes of the city. For localities with sparse population, a wide power supply radius but a very large demand for power supply for daily life and production, Chi Linh Electricity proposes Hai Duong Electricity to build more transformer stations and new power lines. "For the medium voltage power line system managed by the district power company, the unit also focuses on renovating the main lines and large branches to ensure stable power supply for remote communes," said Mr. Nguyen Van Kien, Director of Chi Linh Electricity.
Hoanh Son is a remote commune of Kinh Mon town. The commune has 5 transformer stations but the power supply radius is quite far, about 1.2 km. These transformer stations are all in a state of full load, so the power quality is unstable while the demand for electricity in this area is increasing. In 2023, Kinh Mon Electricity invested in building Hoanh Son 2 transformer station in village 4. The new station has a capacity of 320kVA and 2 lines connecting to Hoanh Son A and Hoanh Son D transformer stations. The new transformer station put into operation has shared the load for 2 neighboring transformer stations, providing stable power to 109 customers, reducing the power supply radius, thereby improving quality and reducing power loss.
Because it is located at the end of the power source, the electricity quality in Phu Tinh village, Thanh Quang commune (Thanh Ha) is unstable, especially during peak hours, when there is not enough electricity for people to use appliances such as air conditioners, washing machines, etc.
In previous summers, even though Mr. Nguyen Trong Tuan’s family in Phu Tinh village wanted to turn on the air conditioner on hot days, they could not use it because the electricity was too weak. “The electricity in this area is very weak, many times we wanted to buy many devices to serve the family’s essential needs but could not use them,” Mr. Tuan shared.
After inspection, Thanh Ha Electricity proposed to invest in an additional transformer station in Phu Tinh village. In mid-April, the new Phu Tinh transformer station with a capacity of 320kVA was put into use, helping to improve the quality of electricity for more than 200 customers in this area...
Beneficiaries
Thanks to the upgraded power grid system and improved electricity quality, many households in remote communes of the province have invested in purchasing additional equipment to serve their production and daily life.
Mrs. Pham Thi Thao's family owns a green bean cake packaging workshop in Phu Tinh village, Thanh Quang commune (Thanh Ha) with nearly 40 workers. Each month, Mrs. Thao's workshop packages about 8,000 products. During peak season, the bag sealing machines have to work at full capacity, so a stable power source is needed. "Since the new transformer station was installed, the electricity has been stable, so the sealing machines have been running smoothly, the products have been packaged more beautifully, and the workers have worked less hard and have been more productive. With stable electricity, not only my workshop but also the people here are very excited, many people will boldly invest in business," said Mrs. Thao.
Excited, assured in production, purchasing additional electrical equipment... is also the common mood of people in many localities that have just invested in upgrading the power grid system. Mr. Nguyen Van Luan, a resident of Hoanh Son commune (Kinh Mon) happily said: "Since the new transformer station was installed, the quality of electricity has been much better. Although my house is at the end of the source, the electricity is still stable, no longer fluctuating like before. Thanks to that, we have been able to purchase household electrical appliances, buy more machinery for production...".
