Kyodo news agency quoted information from Japanese authorities saying that two passenger planes collided at Haneda Airport in Tokyo (Japan) on the morning of June 10, leading to the temporary closure of one of the four runways.

The incident occurred at around 11am (local time) on a taxiway connecting the runway to the apron, with images showing damage to the wing of one of the two planes. The closed runway reopened after about two hours, while the remaining three runways remained operational.

The two planes involved in the incident were a Thai Airways plane carrying 260 passengers and crew members and an Eva Airways plane carrying 200 people, according to Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism .

Meanwhile, NHK said the Eva Airways plane was carrying 207 people, while the Thai Airways plane was carrying 264 people.

A passenger on the Eva Airways flight told reporters there was an "impact" as the plane was waiting to take off. "A part of the wing of a nearby Thai Airways plane was chipped off," the passenger said.

The two planes may have collided as the Thai Airways plane was overtaking the Eva Airways plane, Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism said. The 3km-long runway A was temporarily closed for 2 hours.

According to NHK, Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways said some domestic and international flights were delayed for up to an hour. Authorities are investigating the incident.
