Vietjet Air is the first domestic airline to open ticket sales for the 2026 Lunar New Year from August 28. Accordingly, Vietjet will provide about 2.5 million domestic and international tickets for the period from February 3 to March 2, 2026, corresponding to December 16 to January 13.
From September 3, Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, Vasco) also started selling more than 3.5 million domestic and international tickets for the peak period of Lunar New Year next year.
The airline said this figure increased by more than 20% compared to the peak period of Tet At Ty 2025. This is also the first ticket sale period based on the approved flight schedule. Vietnam Airlines Group will continue to monitor market demand, balance aircraft resources and allocate slots for the next sales periods.
According to Vietnam Airlines, the number of seats on the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route will increase by nearly 18%, Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang by nearly 9%. Along with that, the flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Hue will increase from 9% to 13% compared to the same period.
In addition, the corporation also increased the exploitation of international flights between Vietnam and Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore... to meet the trend of people traveling during Tet.
Airlines are selling tickets early, but ticket prices on some popular routes are still high.
For Vietnam Airlines, the route from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi from December 15 to 29 has the lowest one-way ticket price from 6.3 million VND including taxes and fees. On this route, Vietjet's ticket price also starts to increase from December 23 when the lowest class (excluding checked baggage, non-refundable and non-changeable flight date) starts from nearly 3 million VND one way.
On the route from Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa and Vinh near Tet, Vietnam Airlines tickets cost the lowest from 5.4 million VND one way. Vietjet's cheapest ticket costs 3.5 - 3.7 million VND.
Airlines advise passengers to buy tickets through three channels including website, application, ticket offices or official agents to avoid the risk of fake tickets or tickets being overpriced during peak seasons. At the same time, Vietnam Airlines also recommends passengers to proactively plan and book tickets early to have a suitable itinerary.
