Young school, rich in achievements

In recent years, the Hanoi education sector has recorded the appearance of a private school that is only 15 years old but has an enviable record of achievements.

Specifically, recently, at the selection of the Hanoi Team for the National Competition, for the first time a private school had students enter with 2 subjects: Math and Physics.

It is rare for a non-specialized school to have one student enter, but Newton School has four students in the Math team and one student in the Physics team. This is a rare thing that Newton School has brought to a private school.

In addition, Newton is also a private school with 2/6 candidates being selected to the team for the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) in December 2024.

The outstanding achievements of Newton students at the prestigious international intellectual playgrounds mentioned above are gradually affirming that Newton is an environment where students are given the best conditions for comprehensive development.

The journey of building a school by a teacher who loves her job

Ms. Le Thi Bich Dung, Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Newton Inter-level School, although nearly 70 years old, is still dedicated and diligent in her career of educating people.

Teacher Dung graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics of the University in 1981. In her youth, she spent 13 consecutive years as a lecturer teaching advanced Mathematics and programming to students at the University of Mining and Materials.

After that, Ms. Dung spent 12 years studying and working abroad. With the desire to contribute to her homeland, Ms. Dung returned to Vietnam and founded Newton Inter-level School.

Looking back on her 15-year journey at Newton School, Ms. Dung recalls 2008, calling it the most memorable milestone of her life when she met her old teacher Tran Van Nhung (former Deputy Minister of Education and Training).

“Meeting Mr. Nhung again, he advised me to open a high school to apply the best things from abroad to Vietnam. Based on his advice, I founded Newton School with Mr. Tran Van Nhung as the head,” Ms. Dung recalled.

The first year the school recruited 3 high school classes, with a total of only 70 students, including 45 grade 10 students divided into 3 classes, each class had 15 students. The middle school had 1 class, 14 students, the rest were grade 1 with 11 students.

“Currently we have more than 8,400 students at 4 campuses,” teacher Le Thi Bich Dung informed.

According to Ms. Dung, to build a good educational environment, we need to face the three most difficult factors: First is to create a training environment for students. Second is to have advanced teaching methods and finally, we must have full modern teaching equipment. The school must strive to create the development of all three of these factors.

“We always think about how to make our children obedient, understand their lessons, be fully equipped with learning tools and have fun at school. To do that, we must innovate, teaching must be closely linked to the development of society.

"If we stand still, we are falling behind, so we always have to research and grasp the development trends of society to be at the forefront, to strongly apply the scientific achievements of society to teaching," Ms. Dung shared.

Right from the beginning of the school's founding, teacher Le Thi Bich Dung came up with the slogan for Newton School: "Every student is a future leader", that was her deepest wish.

Imbued with core educational principles, cherishing and constantly worrying about the best educational environment for students, Ms. Dung always aims to build an inspirational school; where each teacher will be a great teacher, leading and passing on the flame of passion to students.

Students will live and learn with all the positive energy released by the inspiration spread by teachers from simple, familiar things.

Facilities and educational activities are visible factors to identify the quality of a modern educational environment.

With her passion for her profession, along with the achievements of Newton School in contributing to innovation and creativity in education in recent years, in November 2023, teacher Le Thi Bich Dung was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Minister of Education and Training, a Certificate of Merit from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training at the age of 65 with the title "Dedicated and Creative Teacher".

Newton Inter-level School System currently has 4 campuses with a total of 8,450 students, of which primary school has 4,550 students, secondary school has 2,280 students and high school has approximately 1,600 students.
