On September 25, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-HCM) held a welcoming ceremony for more than 4,000 new students of the 2025 class with the theme “Wings”. The welcoming ceremony was attended by leaders of VNU-HCM, diplomatic agencies, partner businesses and more than 4,000 students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan - Principal of the School - affirmed the responsibility of training high-quality human resources in the context of social change: "The rate of students having jobs in the first year after graduation reached 88.76%, of which 75% worked in the same or similar field as they studied. With the motto of putting quality first, Humanities students always affirm their role in the work."
According to Ms. Lan, before the opening ceremony, the school surveyed more than 60% of new students to listen to their wishes. The results showed that the three most concerned issues were: job opportunities (in the right field - out of the right field), how to study so as not to "owe" general subjects and the quality of student life. It was from those honest responses that inspired her to share today, a speech filled with a lot of emotions.
From his own experience, the Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities advised: “Does the profession choose the person or does the person choose the profession? For me, the profession chooses the person. In modern society, you must always be ready for both. Whether the job comes unexpectedly or is pre-planned, the important thing is that you prepare yourself with sufficient knowledge and skills to always be proactive.”

Representing more than 4,000 new students, valedictorian Nguyen Hieu Nhan (English Language major) shared: “The title of valedictorian is not the destination, but a reminder to always strive and be humble. I want to spend four years of university cultivating knowledge, skills and social experience, to both improve myself and contribute to the country.”
In the 2025-2026 school year, the School received support from businesses, banks, and diplomatic agencies with a total support value of nearly 1.6 billion VND. The School awarded 4 scholarships, each worth 100 million VND, to valedictorians to encourage their learning spirit.
