Blend in with the street music

ĐNO - During the peak tourist season in August, Da Nang not only attracts tourists with its blue sea, festivals and large-scale art programs, but also holds them back with rustic, warm street music - where artists and audiences meet in a close, emotional space.

At Tran Bach Dang – An Thuong walking street, many people and tourists had the opportunity to enjoy the art program performed by students of Da Nang College, with the theme "Let's love each other peacefully".

This is a Street Music program in a series of activities of the Project "Art activities serving tourism in An Thuong walking street" assigned by the City People's Committee to Da Nang College to implement.

No grand stage, no bright lights, the young people only brought guitars, microphones, and a simple cajon drum set. But it was that simplicity that made the atmosphere more intimate and sincere, so that each song could touch the hearts of the listeners.

The singing echoed through the streets, blending with the sound of waves lapping from the sea. The youthful music, sometimes lively, sometimes calm, brought many emotions. Pedestrians stopped, curious tourists stopped, phones were raised high to capture the moment. The summer night thus became sparkling, not only with the street lights but also with the clear melodies of youth.

Mr. Ho Viet Ha, Principal of Da Nang College, shared: “We want to create a street music space for students to have the opportunity to show their talents, while contributing to enriching the cultural life of the city. This is also the way the school accompanies Da Nang in building art venues to serve the community.”

For the students, this is truly a valuable experience. Thao Giang, a third-year student of the Vocal Music Department and a member of the band, could not hide her joy: “Performing in front of a large audience is an unforgettable memory. We feel more mature, more confident and especially happy when the music we play can make others happy, sing and clap together. That is the motivation for us to continue to try.”

Not only were the students excited, but the audience also left sincere feelings. Mr. Pham Van Thanh, a tourist from Hai Phong, expressed his surprise: “I have been to Da Nang many times, but this is the first time I have seen a street music program by students. They sang well, played lively music, and especially were very friendly. This makes me feel that this city is more youthful, friendly and creative in the eyes of tourists.”

For those who choose Da Nang as their place to live and work, street music has also become a special “spiritual food”. Ms. Dau Thi Thuong, an office worker in Da Nang, shared: “After a stressful work week, being able to immerse yourself in music like this on the weekend is great. I think such activities should be maintained regularly, both creating a healthy playground for students and enriching the city’s life.”

It is these positive responses that show the appeal of this seemingly small art form, but which contains great community value.

In the development picture of a tourist city, culture and art are the colors that create identity. Street music, with the participation of students, is not just a performance. It is a place where young people practice skills, confidence, creativity and teamwork. From there, they not only learn knowledge in the classroom, but also know how to spread positive energy to the community.

These shows bring many meanings. Locals have more space for healthy entertainment, tourists have more unique experiences when visiting Da Nang. A normal evening suddenly becomes an unforgettable memory thanks to a few melodies resounding on the street corner.

And more broadly, it contributes to building the image of Da Nang not only as a city of sea tourism, but also as a city of culture and art, a place worth living and worth returning to.

In fact, in many large cities around the world, street music has become a distinctive cultural feature. Da Nang, with the advantage of being a young, dynamic city, can completely turn this activity into a unique tourism product. When students themselves – young and enthusiastic people – participate, the music becomes more vibrant, more fresh and has more faith in the future.

Music inherently knows no age, profession or distance. When played on the street, it becomes a bridge connecting souls. There, performers and listeners meet through emotions, to smile, clap, and hum along to the melody.

The street art program of students of Danang College is therefore not only an entertainment activity, but also an affirmation: this city knows how to nurture the souls of young people, knows how to turn ordinary moments into beautiful memories. And from there, tourists love more, people are more proud of the place they live.
