(NLDO) - Painter Quach Phong, photographer Doan Cong Tinh, photographer Nguyen Trieu Hung, and writer Doan Minh Tuan were visited and given gifts.

Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy - head of the delegation, representing the leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City - visited and presented gifts to outstanding artists on the afternoon of July 23.

The artists who were visited and given gifts included: painter Quach Phong, photographer Doan Cong Tinh, photographer Nguyen Trieu Hung, writer Doan Minh Tuan. This is a meaningful visitation activity carried out on the occasion of "Summary of 50 years of Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts" and the first organization of "Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days".

This activity aims to recognize and pay tribute to the contributions of artists in general, artists who participated in the revolution, artists who won the State Prize, Ho Chi Minh Prize, People's Artists, Meritorious Artists who have worked and made positive contributions to cultural and artistic activities in Ho Chi Minh City, and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Painter Quach Phong was once the General Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association. He was awarded many medals by the State, including the Labor Medal, Medal for the Cause of Vietnamese Literature and Arts...

Many of his sketches and lacquer works are collected and regularly exhibited by the Ho Chi Minh Museum of Fine Arts and the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts.

From 2009 to now, he has focused on painting the series "A Thousand Years of Vietnamese History" from the Hung Kings period to Saigon's liberation in 1975 on 0.40 cm x 400 m paper and has done it on lacquer 1.2 m x 300 m, also expressed on ceramic 3 m x 50 m.

"Thank you for visiting and giving gifts. I am 90 years old this Tet. Currently, I am also painting historical paintings. I paint on paper as well as some lacquer paintings. When I returned from the resistance war, I painted paintings about the anti-American resistance war. However, our country's history is 4,000 years old. I always yearn to paint historical paintings" - artist Quach Phong confided.

He said his current wish is to have the government support land and call on investors to build houses with beautiful architecture to display his paintings. He does not take money for painting, but only displays them for tourists to enjoy. The delegation continued to the home of photographer Doan Cong Tinh - nicknamed "King of the Battlefield", famous for capturing the developments of the war and posting photos promptly.

Some of his award-winning works include: "Occupying Dau Mau Base" - Grand Prize with a gold medal from the International Organization of Journalists OIJ; "On the Marching Road" - ACCU Award (Asia - Pacific ), first prize from the Hanoi Literature and Arts Association; "On the Nameless Hill" - first prize from the Vietnam Journalists Association (1973), second prize from the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (1971)...

He has many contributions to Vietnamese journalism and photography and is currently suffering from Parkinson's disease. His family is in financial difficulty.

After chatting, visiting and giving gifts, the delegation visited photographer Nguyen Trieu Hung, who used to work in many positions at the People's Army Newspaper and was former Editorial Secretary of the Beautiful Light Magazine of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association.

Currently, he is a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association. He was awarded the 3rd class Victory Medal (Summary of the period of resistance against the French); the 3rd - 2nd - 1st class Glorious Soldier Medal...

Writer Doan Minh Tuan welcomed the delegation in a cheerful spirit. He said he is working on a memoir titled "By the Tra River" which is scheduled to be released this year.

The writer has many valuable works, reprinted many times such as "The teacher in the highlands" (story, 1959); "The bright-eyed soldier" (story, reprinted 4 times); "Uncle Ho the long-lived tree" (story, memoir, 1989, reprinted 4 times)...

In addition, he is also the author of many documentary and puppetry scripts filmed in Czechoslovakia (former), Cambodia, many of which were printed in the Soviet Union (former), China and broadcast on television and radio in former Eastern Europe.
