Postponement of the awarding ceremony of the titles of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist

The 10th People's Artist and Meritorious Artist Award Ceremony was scheduled to be held on the morning of January 31 at the Hanoi Opera House. However, the award ceremony was postponed to another day due to force majeure.

According to Decision 1431/QD-CTN signed by President Vo Van Thuong on November 28, 2023 and Decision 724/QD-CTN signed on June 22, 2023, 119 individuals were awarded the title of People's Artist, 256 individuals were awarded the title of Meritorious Artist, 5 individuals were posthumously awarded the title of People's Artist and one individual was posthumously awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in the 10th round of considering and awarding the titles of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist.

Xuan Bac and Que Tran were awarded the title of People's Artist in the 10th awarding ceremony.

The first list announced includes 77 People's Artists, including Meritorious Artists Tran Luc, Quoc Khanh, Ha Thuy, Bui Cong Duy, Duc Trung, Tran Duc, Khuong Duc Thuan, Thu Huyen, Ngoc Huyen, Huong Dung...

The second list of People's Artist conferment winners signed and approved by the President on November 28 includes 42 artists, including prominent names such as Meritorious Artist Thanh Lam, Xuan Bac, Trinh Kim Chi, My Uyen, Tan Minh...

The artists were awarded in 5 art fields: theater, radio, television, music and dance. Of which, the theater field had the largest number of artists awarded with more than 60 People's Artists. The music field had more than 40 artists receiving the title of People's Artist.

At the event, in addition to announcing the President's decision to confer the title, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will also report on the 10th round of conferring the title of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist in 2023. After that, the People's Artists and Meritorious Artists will be invited to the podium to receive the title conferment certificate from the leaders of the Party and State.

People's Artist and Meritorious Artist are noble titles awarded by the State to those working in the performing arts. In addition to certificates of merit, artists who are awarded the title will receive corresponding bonuses according to regulations.

According to Decree 98/2023/ND-CP dated December 31, 2023 of the Government detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Emulation and Commendation, effective from January 1, 2024, the bonus for People's Artists is 12.5 times the base salary, and for Meritorious Artists it is 9 times the base salary.

Specifically, artists receiving the title of People's Artist receive a bonus of 22.5 million VND (equivalent to a coefficient of 12.5). Artists receiving the title of Meritorious Artist receive a bonus of 16.2 million VND (equivalent to a coefficient of 9).

In addition, artists after being awarded the title will also receive a salary increase at the governing body.
