Mr. Pham Van Bay always follows Uncle Ho's example of being close to the people, accompanying the people in building new rural areas.
In 1986, after being discharged from the army, Mr. Bay went to Ho Chi Minh City to work for more than 10 years to make a living. After returning to his hometown to do farming , in 2003, he was elected by the local government and the people to hold the position of Head of Phuoc Ke Hamlet. At that time, he was quite hesitant because he had never done this job before and was afraid that he did not have enough prestige.
“At first, I was very worried, because the hamlet work not only requires enthusiasm but also skill, being close to the people, knowing what the people need, what they want… but thanks to the support of the people, I gradually got used to the job” - Mr. Bay shared.
Since 2008, he has been the Party Secretary of Phuoc Ke Hamlet. In 2018, he was the Party Secretary and Hamlet Chief. Over the past 22 years, he has always been a pioneer in all movements, promoting the spirit of learning and following Uncle Ho in a concrete, practical way, associated with the lives of local people.
Phuoc Ke Hamlet currently has 768 households with more than 2,600 people. The rural appearance here has many positive changes. If in the past the roads were mainly red dirt, muddy in the rainy season and dusty in the dry season, now most of the main roads and alleys are concreted or asphalted, clean and beautiful, with solar lights installed.
“When I first became the Hamlet Chief, the whole hamlet only had one concrete road 900m long and 1.2m wide. Now, the road is open to every alley, much more spacious and cleaner. That is thanks to the joint efforts and consensus of the people and the support of the local government,” Mr. Bay said.
To achieve that result, he did not hesitate to "go to every alley, knock on every door" to mobilize land donations, labor and money to build the road. With his dedication and exemplary role, he created trust and mobilized the internal strength of the people.
Not only stopping at traffic, Mr. Bay also pays special attention to environmental criteria. He and the hamlet members regularly clean up, clear the area, pick up trash and encourage people to preserve the living environment every week.
In all activities of the hamlet, Mr. Bay was open and transparent, regularly organizing meetings to listen to people's thoughts and aspirations and find ways to solve difficulties. "Hot" issues were brought up for democratic discussion in the Party cell and people's meetings.
“Being entrusted with tasks by the government and the people, I always remind myself to be a good example, to practice what I preach. Only by being close to and understanding the people can I fulfill the role of a party member and a grassroots cadre. Every time I do something that benefits the country and the people, I feel that my life is more meaningful,” Mr. Bay added./.
