The 22nd CAEXPO and Summit in Nanning, Guangxi

On September 17, the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo and China-ASEAN Trade and Investment Summit officially opened in Nanning City, Guangxi Province.

The theme of this year’s expo and conference is: “Intelligent digitalization promotes development, innovation leads the future – Seize the opportunities of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area version 3.0 to jointly build a community with a common destiny”. Domestic and foreign leaders, government officials, and ambassadors of ASEAN countries in China attended.

This year marks the signing of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area Protocol Version 3.0, and is also the Year of China-ASEAN People-to-People Exchanges. Through the opening ceremony and high-level dialogue activities, leaders of China and ASEAN countries will focus on deepening the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership, promoting high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road, thereby consolidating broader strategic consensus, enhancing political trust, and promoting the building of a more closely connected China-ASEAN community of common destiny.

Notably different from previous editions, artificial intelligence (AI) took on the role of “main character” at the event for the first time, with three milestone innovations: the first launch of an AI-themed exhibition area, the first introduction of an “AI Exhibition” with intelligent entities, and the first holding of the China-ASEAN Ministerial Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence.

The strong attraction of “AI magnetic field” is attracting global attention. This year’s fair and conference brings together more than 3,200 enterprises from 60 countries; in which Myanmar takes on the role of Theme Country and Sri Lanka is a Special Cooperation Partner. From exhibition booths to forums, from official agendas to business meetings, “AI” has become the most frequently appearing keyword at the event, signaling that cooperation between China and ASEAN is entering a completely new “digital – intelligent” path.
