
The workshop was chaired by comrades: Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee; Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director, Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House Truth; Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Minh Son, Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication; Dr. Nguyen Cong Dung, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Party of Vietnam E-newspaper. The workshop was also attended by comrades who are leaders in the fields of journalism and publishing, experts in journalism training, leaders of press agencies and publishing units nationwide.
On the side of Thai Binh province, the workshop was attended by comrade Nguyen Tien Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; and members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee.


Speaking at the opening of the workshop, comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association affirmed: In recent years, press and media agencies have always strived to innovate, constantly improving the quality of both content and form, and performing well the role of the Party's political mouthpiece and theory agency, and the people's forum.
He emphasized: In order to better carry out the political tasks assigned by the Party and the State, and increasingly better meet the needs of readers, the digital transformation of newspapers and publishing is an urgent task to innovate communication and distribution methods, and effectively implement the goal of "correct, accurate, timely, and attractive" propaganda... Therefore, the organization of the scientific workshop "Digital transformation of newspapers and publishing - Theory and practice" aims to create a forum for managers of the press and publishing industry; experts in the field of journalism training, leaders of press agencies, leaders of publishing units to update new content in the general theoretical issues of digital transformation of newspapers and publishing; analyze and evaluate the current situation and issues facing newspapers and publishing in the context of current digital transformation; thereby proposing orientations and solutions to promote digital transformation in the field of newspapers and publishing in Vietnam in the coming time.
He hoped and suggested that from the workshop, press and publishing managers would listen, share and resolve difficulties for press agencies that are still in the early stages of developing modern journalism; leaders of press agencies and publishing units would gain more experience to implement digital transformation of press and publishing in a way that is suitable to the capacity, practical operations and development strategy of the editorial office, while press and publishing training experts would focus on new skills, practice the model of "bringing the editorial office to the classroom", linking training with vivid practice".

In his welcome speech at the workshop, comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee, emphasized that digital transformation is an inevitable trend globally and an important and urgent solution, serving as a basis for building and implementing socio-economic development programs and plans of each country and each locality. At the 13th National Party Congress, digital transformation was identified as one of the six key tasks and three breakthroughs of the Socio-Economic Development Strategy for the period 2021 - 2030. For Thai Binh, at the 20th Provincial Party Congress, the Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee identified accelerating the digital transformation process as one of the breakthrough solutions for the province's socio-economic development in the period 2020 - 2025. Right from the beginning of the term, the 20th Provincial Party Committee Executive Committee issued Resolution No. 02-NQ/TU on digital transformation in Thai Binh province by 2025, with a vision to 2030.
He gave an overview of the results of the first three years of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolution of the 20th Thai Binh Provincial Party Congress and the results of implementing Resolution No. 02-NQ/TU on digital transformation of Thai Binh province to 2025, with a vision to 2030. He affirmed that the national scientific conference on "Digital transformation of journalism and publishing - Theory and practice" is a very practical activity, helping Thai Binh and localities to have more consultation from experts and scientists in the process of implementing digital transformation in general, digital transformation of journalism and publishing in particular; suggesting new thinking on directions and development strategies for Thai Binh press and local press agencies across the country to constantly develop in a professional direction, master modern communication technology, quick access and to bring quality press products to digital infrastructures and platforms; gradually create qualitative changes, improve the quality of comprehensive activities, create increasingly high-quality press products, better meet public needs, contribute to innovation, improve the quality and effectiveness of press work and ideological work of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee in the new situation.



In his report at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House, said: Digital transformation of journalism and publishing in Vietnam is currently facing many difficulties and challenges such as incomplete and incomplete awareness of the benefits, importance and methods of digital transformation; resources for digital transformation; the issue of technological autonomy; professional skills and the ability to apply technology of reporters, editors, and publishing teams in the digital environment...
He affirmed that the current digital transformation trend is opening up both opportunities and challenges for press and publishing agencies. To fulfill its historic mission, he suggested that delegates focus on exchanging and discussing: analyzing and clarifying the theoretical and practical basis of digital transformation of press and publishing in Vietnam today; analyzing the current status of digital transformation in press and publishing agencies, press and publishing management agencies from central to local levels; evaluating achievements, limitations and causes, drawing lessons from experience in digital transformation of press and publishing in the past time; clarifying the issues raised for digital transformation of press and publishing as well as opportunities and challenges in the new context of the world, regional and domestic situation in the coming time; providing orientations, proposing solutions and recommendations to promote comprehensive and sustainable digital transformation of press and publishing in the coming time.
The conference organizing committee received 63 presentations from scientists from central and local departments, ministries, and agencies, press and publishing agencies nationwide, including 8 presentations directly at the conference. The opinions of delegates and scientists focused on analyzing, explaining, and clarifying the scientific content surrounding the conference's theme.


Speaking at the workshop, Comrade Pham Dong Thuy, Standing Committee member, Head of the Propaganda Department of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee affirmed: Thai Binh province identified 3 factors that determine the success of digital transformation: people, institutions and technology. The province's press agencies have synchronously deployed tasks and solutions to implement digital transformation. He summarized some results achieved in the application of the software "Electronic Party Member Handbook"; the digital transformation results achieved by Thai Binh Newspaper and Thai Binh Radio and Television Station; and at the same time, shared some lessons learned in the process of implementing digital transformation of newspapers in the province. To continue to improve the effectiveness of digital transformation of newspapers, he emphasized a number of solutions that need to be effectively implemented: raising awareness of information and communication management officers, leaders, reporters, editors of the province's press agencies about the important role and urgency of promoting the implementation of digital transformation of newspapers in sync with the province's digital transformation program; Continue to effectively implement the province's resolutions and plans on digital transformation; develop high-quality digital press products, effectively innovate readers' experiences; build product and service packages suitable for each group of readers; apply digital platforms to press agencies...
In his closing remarks at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Minh Son, Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, affirmed that the opinions and articles of scientists have provided useful scientific arguments, contributing to solving the hot issues that are being raised in promoting digital transformation in the field of journalism and publishing in the coming time. Many good models, profound lessons, valuable proposals and solutions presented at the workshop are the basis for agencies to make recommendations to the Party and State in implementing the national digital transformation strategy in general and digital transformation of journalism and publishing in particular.
