The Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) said that by the morning of August 27, after storm No. 5 (storm Kajiki), EVNNPC units had made efforts to restore and re-supply power to 1.6 million customers, reaching 68.1% of the number of customers initially affected. All 110kV power lines and transformer stations have been restored.

The shock team has been mobilized to heavily damaged areas in Ha Tinh and Nghe An, and is actively developing temporary plans to restore power to customers as soon as possible.

In Ha Tinh, after carrying out damage assessment, on the morning of August 26, EVNNPC held a meeting to assign leaders, each group/team according to specific areas to coordinate the recovery.

Units are determined to temporarily restore power to important loads such as commune/ward centers, police/military command agencies, hospitals, water plants... that same night, and strive to supply power to all customers before August 29.

During the direct working session at Thanh Hoa PC, EVNNPC General Director Nguyen Duc Thien and the working delegation inspected and directed the response work after storm No. 5.

Mr. Thien emphasized that restoring power supply is an urgent task but safety must be put first. In the context of heavy rain, flash floods and landslides that are still looming, units must closely monitor water levels, proactively stop and reduce power supply when necessary, operate flexibly, and ensure safety for people and construction workers.

At the same time, it is necessary to proactively provide materials, equipment, means and human resources to restore power to key areas, essential infrastructure and important customers; and develop appropriate plans for flooded and isolated areas.

On August 26, Mr. Vu The Nam, Member of the Board of Members and Mr. Luong Minh Thanh, Deputy General Director of EVNNPC also directly inspected the scene.

EVNNPC leaders requested units to immediately deploy restoration plans when safety conditions allow; in the immediate future, focus on temporary power supply to quickly reduce the number of customers experiencing power interruptions. Power management teams must be proactive in their work, flexibly coordinating with capable units to speed up progress.

In addition, there needs to be a focal point for synthesizing damage, regulating materials appropriately, and making detailed plans for each area. Particularly for mountainous areas isolated by floods, there needs to be a separate plan suitable to actual conditions.

Power companies in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh have mobilized maximum human resources, vehicles, materials and equipment to simultaneously fix the problem, while promoting electrical safety propaganda, maintaining contact with the Control Center and enhancing customer interaction.

EVNNPC has mobilized specialized departments and shock troops from many units inside and outside the industry with a total of 569 officers and workers (belonging to EVNNPC and EVNCPC) to participate in supporting and regulating under the direct direction of the corporation's leaders. The Northern electricity sector is determined to overcome the problem as quickly as possible, completing the restoration of power supply in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh before the National Day holiday on September 2.

EVNNPC recommends electrical safety for residents

Before the storm hits, people should check and reinforce the electrical systems in their homes and workplaces. Turn off unnecessary electrical equipment and avoid placing electrical outlets and equipment in areas at risk of being exposed to rain and flooding.

When a storm comes, if you are forced to go out due to work or objective conditions, you should absolutely avoid standing near electric poles, power stations or contacting electrical equipment when it is raining heavily or windy. In the house, if the floor is flooded or wet, you need to turn off the power (cut the circuit breaker). Circuit breakers, fuses, circuit breakers and sockets should be placed higher than 1.40m, dry, to avoid children from contacting or causing electrical short circuits when flooded.

In flooded areas, only turn on the power again after checking all electrical equipment in the house to detect and eliminate damage and unsafe phenomena.

When detecting someone being electrocuted, quickly turn off the power source and call for help. If you cannot turn off the power immediately, use a dry wooden stick or bamboo pole to push the wire away or pull the victim with dry clothes. Absolutely do not touch the victim directly.

In case of detecting electrical problems in the house or on the street, people should not attempt to repair them themselves without the knowledge and appropriate tools to avoid causing electrical accidents.
